Hmmm, the passiv Heal is really nice from 4 Shadows and if you need more you can make a Schield and the other one makes the HoT on the Tank.
I would prefer a Disc Priest and no Holy Priest if you want to Box instances solo

My main team (prot paladin, holy priest, arcane mage, mm hunter and elemental shaman) has done all heroic instances and glory of the hero. I've tried both disc and holy as healer and my experience is that holy is better at AE heals, while disc is better at single target heals. Disc is the easiest to start out with because when you have mediocre gear it's more mana efficient, but in the end it's really a matter of preference.
Anyway, the passive healing from 4 shadow priests isn't anywhere near enough to keep the tank up (at least not until you way outgear the instances anyway), and switching in and out of shadow form is both costly in mana and dps, so that's not really an option :-) Casting a lot of shields and renews on the priests is pretty mana intensive but doable, just way less efficient than having a specialized healer since you end up paying a price in terms of mana expensive heals.
