If you are using Strobe Follow, you can stop the Strobe activity via the toggle.
That particular mapped key is two steps, on and off.

Normal follow or strobe turned off, operate the same.
You need to do something to break follow.
This can be turning, forward/backward movement or strafing.

The easiest is to set up some mapped keys for independent slave movement.
Basically copy the mapped key for Slaves Jump (Control Space).
I have an example of this in the guide (in my signature).
    EverQuest I: Bard / Enchanter / Druid / Wizard / 2x Magician.
    Diablo III: 4x Crusader & 4x Wizard.

My Guide to IS Boxer http://www.dual-boxing.com/showthread.php?t=26231 (somewhat dated).
