Hi all. Great community you have here. I've been lurking for the past week or so and decided to officially join up.
I'm new to multiboxing. I've 2-boxed in a few games, but mostly just as a way to powerlevel alts or to have a healer follow my main around while I solo. I started when I built a second computer, back when I was playing Age of Conan. I suppose I just assumed you can't run two instances of the same game on one computer without a 3rd party program, so I never tried. I guess I was only half right. Anyway, I really loved AoC and since I had an 80 Priest of Mitra, I figured I could power level an alt pretty fast, then turn around and do it again on my first account, and so on. It was fun for a little while, but I got burned out on handling two computers. Turning to face the other monitor and use the other keyboard was a bit of a pain - and in retrospect I guess I kinda sucked at it. I was just making it up as I went along. I never bothered to read up on methods for making it more accessible.
After AoC I went back to WoW and put my second computer to use. It was much easier to deal with two computers in WoW. I enjoyed it for a little while, but (as I always do with WoW) I eventually got bored and stopped playing. But since then I've rebuilt my gaming computer from the ground up and it's pretty damn powerful now. New everything. High end everything. It's a beast!
Well, I've become bored with the traditional MMO style gameplay over the years but I still like the genre and I want to keep playing MMOs - and now that I have a system that can handle the load, I decided to give real multiboxing a try. So I googled "multiboxing" and that's how I came to discover this site. I really appreciate all the useful info and guides some of you have contirbuted here. It makes a noob's life much easier! Thank you.
Right now I'm starting up a 4-man trial in EQ2 and learning how to use Keyclone and IS, set up my macros, create formations, how not to have my whole group talk at once, etc. It's a process - and it can be a little daunting at first - but I'm learning.
Once I have the 4-box group down, I intend to add the final two and learn to control a full group. My handicap, however, is that I don't know EQ2 at all. I played for a few weeks at launch and hated it. Now, six years later, it seems like a really good game - but I have zero knowledge of the world and mechanics (beyond the original EQ c. 2000). So this should be an interesting learning experience.
If anyone can point me toward a list of helpful EQ2 mods, I'd appreciate it. If not, I'm sure I can find them on my own.
Anyway, just wanted to say hello and introduce myself.
Back to work.
