    Default [Keyclone] Question...

I haven't really delved into the key-map part of Keyclone yet but I'm looking for a solution for a problem, and I think it might help.

I want to press one key that sends two different keys depending on which client is in foreground. Is this possible?

Essentially I want to press 'W'; the client in foreground receives 'W'; the client(s) in the back ground receive 'F' which is the key bound to /follow...

Is that possible? It will make the difference between being okay at some PvE when I pick my targets and being able to do anything else... like PvP.

If it isn't possible with Keyclone as is will such a feature ever be added?

You can do that using macros. Use W to move forward on your main, and make W auto follow on your alts.

    Something like that.

Why W tho, why a key you use all the time why would you want it to send Saw F to follow// you will be like spamming a macro to follow. you know?

I use a nostromo as my main control, I don't have enough keys for a dedicated follow key so I combine it with my forwards. It works fine with two... issue comes when I switch to my follower, he uses the arrow keys for direction. ('W' is bound to follow, 'S' bound to forward) but I want to make the process a bit easier. And because you can't send a walk forward command via macro I can't have 'W' bound to both forward & follow which would be ideal:...

    /follow [nodead] party1
    /focus [nodead] paty1
    /follow [nodead] party2
    /focus [nodead] paty2
    +foward

    (I think)

Client A: W Keymapped to clientBFollow
Client B: F12 Keymapped to clientBFollow

Client B: W Keymapped to clientAFollow
Client A: F12 Keymapped to clientAFollow

Assuming your follow hotkey is F12 this wouldmake it so you would follow when pressing W on either account.... I don't think this would interfere with anything either.

    What I have:
ClientA in foreground key1 is forward. Key2 does nothing.
ClientB in foreground key1 does nothing. Key2 is still follow.

ClientA in background key1 is forward, key2 tells clientB to follow.
ClientB in background key1 does nothing, key2 follows clientA

    What I want if possible:

ClientA in foreground key1 is forward, key2 doesn't do anything
ClientB in foreground key1 is forward, key2 doesn't do anything

ClientA in background key1 does nothing, key2 follows clientB
ClientB in background key1 does nothing, key2 follows clientA

And I can't work out how to do that, or if its even possible. The keys that do nothing can be just macros that don't meet the requirements. I want to be able to play either client as the main.

Ah hadn't realised that Zanthor was talking about Keymaps.

So I create a keymap for each client. Using Zanthor's system above, what do I bind in game?

keymaps just translate a key from the active window into a 'hot-string' (like a hotkey.. but its alpha numeric)... which gets sent to all clones. once received, keyclone will attempt to translate the hotstring back into a key using a keymap on the particular clone. no keymap == ignored key

    so... 3 -> follow -> 5 ... would require 2 keymaps. the first to translate 3 to/from follow... and the 2nd that translates 5 to/from follow...

and load each keymap onto the specific clone

meanwhile... in game.. you would associate your wow-macros with keys as you normally would. in this case, one of your clones would have nothing attached to 3 and the other would have the follow macro attached to 5

    your keys may vary

So if you are only running one copy of keyclone keymaps don't do a great deal?

the number of copies of keyclone does not come into it.

keymaps are on a per clone basis.
whether those clones are all managed by 1 keyclone or spread across 5 machines.

you load a keymap onto the clone being managed by keyclone. i usually describe keymaps as translations.. but they can also be called filters.. and you can have a different one per clone.

    make sense?
