    Default Symlinking to ramdisk?

    After some reading it seems individual files can not be symlinked across volumes, only directories can. But what about symlinking a file - lichking.mpq to another directory on same volume, and then symlink that entire directory to a RamDisk?

    Since the wow/data folder is too big for most peoples ram, what Im thinking of is something in the lines of this:

    c:\wow/data/lichking.mpq -> symlinked to c:\new folder\lichking.mpq

    And then, the entire "new folder" is symlinked to a ramdrive partition -> x:\data\lichking.mpq

    Would this be a doable workaround for symlinking parts of the data folder onto a ramdrive? If it works it will speed up performance by tons for those that have 12gb ram and lots to spare for a few mpq files.

    RAID 0 with SSDs, it's been discussed before, works fine.

    I think you are right, Ill be aiming for Raid-SSD's.. Much cheaper and I can fit multiple games on them
