    Question Account name question

So my thread kinda got sidetracked / hijacked, so I figured I would make this more clear.

I have 3 B-Net accounts, with all the same last name on them (my own). Before the B-Net merger thing, the accounts had different last names.

What i want to know is, would it be ok to multi-box with the 3 accounts. They have my last name on them all, but if blizz looks at the original info, they will see they had different names. I just want to know if this would be against some blizz rule. Considering blizz allowed people to change the name on the account when it was merged to B-Net, I assumed it was a sort of grace period for people who made accounts for friends, and put names other than their own on the account.

I'd bet you're safe. If you merged them all to your bnet account and your credit card is being used to pay for all three and you put your name on them, I can't imagine there would be any issue at all. You're probably ok.

That raises an interesting question though. When I was 2-boxing WoW I was playing on my ex's account - which I was paying for. Her name is on it, but it's always been paid for with my credit card. I never bothered to change the info because she never cared much for the game anyway. There's zero chance of her ever playing again, so as far as I'm concerned it's my account. I set it up in the first place. I paid for it. I've played 99% of the time spent on it. But the question is does any of that matter if it still has her name on it?

Just a thought. I don't mean to piggy-back on your thread.

I'm sure you're fine considering you put your name on them.

Pretty sure they could ban you if they felt like it.

Technically you are playing some one else's account in there eyes. I am pretty sure it just matters the last name on the account.

Yeah, we have different last names. We would have had the same name if she wasn't such a selfish b*tch.

Seriously though, I think that might be a situation you could take up with CS. I'm sure if they checked the payment history and verified that your name has always been on the bill they'd change the account info rather than swing the banhammer. And by "you", I mean "me".

At least I hope they would. TBH, I'm considering switching back to WoW since multiboxing is iffy in EQ2. I'm glad you reminded me about that little detail. I'd hate to get banned for playing on my own account just because I originally bought it for someone to play with me!

If accounts were not registered with the same last name, then yes theoretically they could can-x your ass. Regardless, before some mod smacks you.. dont talk about using accounts that are not in your own name.

-- Side note, chance of this happening is damn near slim to none. Use your own judgement.

Oh, jeez. Sorry. I didn't realize that was a no-no. My first day here and I'm already breaking the rules!

    Thanks for the heads up.

When I reactive that hypothetical account *wink* *nudge* I'll take care of it.

Aaaaaand now I'm off to read the rules.

Fixed the original post a bit.

Just wanted to make it clear I am not multi-boxing the accounts, or any atm actually. Just wanted to know if I did, would I be ok by blizz.

Once the accounts have their name changed, with the B.Net merger, I'd think you are ok. But don't quote me on that.

Further, I'd personally contact customer service and explain that you had purchased two accounts, one for yourself and one for your significant other. The accounts are in different names, but your significant other never actually got into the game. You are the purchaser of both accounts, the sole user of both accounts and have paid for both accounts for their entire duration. Then ask if you can have the second account placed in your name as well, since you are considering boxing with both at once and wish to avoid issues.

Chances are they'll agree. If they don't, you can try to call back a few hours later and see if someone else will help you out. If push comes to shove, and you are out of luck.. I'd not take the risk. Do a re-roll, using your initial account as the main/booster account, and grab a couple more accounts (or 4 whatever) and take advantage of Recruit a Friend.

I did not intend to hijack this thread, and don't I believe I did. But if that's what you felt happened, sensenmann, then I apologize. My only intention was to talk about the topic you started.

As for the joke about my ex - that's just me. It's hard for me to avoid a joke once it pops into my head. But I try to keep it relevant to the topic, or at least just steer my post back on topic afterwards - which is what I did. I don't consider a little humor hijacking, but ain't my thread. /shrug

Good luck with your dilemma. I hope it works out.

All said and done I'd wager you are safe to play those accounts.

I myself had an account a friend abandoned and merged into my bnet account. I haven't activated that account or play on it, but I did transfer the only high level character off it.

The simple black and white answer is you already broke the rules. It's already too late, and there's nothing you can do about it and still use that battle.net account. The reality is that Blizzard KNEW this would be used in this fashion, they aren't stupid. I consider this a one time bypass that let me get a character I put my blood sweat and tears into onto a legit account.
