Thread: 2nd try: 2 Q's

    Default 2nd try: 2 Q's

    Hi all,

Just spent 30 mins typing up a post w/ 2 well-stated questions, complete with my thought process in getting myself into this predicament, but it got wiped on posting.. So here's the abbreviated verson:

    1. I set up my 5 box accts incorrectly. I have A and B, both with multi 80s, from pre-multibox. I made A->C->D: B->E, because I didn't do my research appropriately. Hence, in mid-30s, running Scarlet Monastary, staggering whether A or B is boosting, I've got a lvl gap of about 5 -6 lvls in my team.
-------Question: If I lvl grant now to balance out the team, will that cancel the RAF triple xp bonus after the lvl is granted? My gut feeling is NO, since I can't find that anywhere else on the internets, but I remember reading that here on the forums somewhere (naturally I can't find the post). Maybe I misinterpreted?

    2. (Which will have an effect on whether I do 1.) Because of #1 above, and because horde love to kill my entire team of lowbies as I run thru the Scarlet Monastery zone on the way from southshore, and (also) because of the 5/hour instance lock, despite taking extra time to loot for greens/cloth, I'm getting frustrated with SM. Would it be quicker in the long run for me to grant a few lvls now and get my team balanced again, and 5-box quest the rest of the way to 60? I know the quest routes pretty well, and had some pretty respectable 1-80 /played times on my original toons, so I'm comforable with questing. Plus, I'd get to experience some vanilla WoW w/ these guys, before cataclysm comes along and destroys vanilla wow forever.

Thanks for reading, and trust me, this is the condensed version.
    -Cheers (copying to clipboard now.)

No, you don't lose RAF when you grant levels.

I'm also semi confused - why do you have a level gap?
    A->C->D: B->E

A should be doing ALL the boosting

    A (80) grouped with B, C, D, E (RAF twinkies)
C and D are linked, B and E are linked - they all get RAF. You boost them to 60 in no time, then you grant levels to A's account for a free level 60. Now you have a nice new group of level 60s

    explanation:
    A->C->D: B->E
If boosting with A the others to 60, then B C D E are 60, each has 30 free levels to grant
You get a free level 30 on B (or a level 60 if you boost a toon to 30 first)
You then level a toon to 15 on A, Grant a toon to 30 on C from D, grant that level 30 toon's 15 free levels to your level 15 toon on A(now level 30), then grant C's levels to that toon for another level 60 on account A, and presto 5 level 60s, two level 30s.

This is all very roundabout, and it's easier basically to just pound out a few teams to 60 with A and then grant - this is just if you wanted the one team of 60s.

Repeat as needed. You also get some extra random levels in there.

Also boosting is much much faster than questing, just much much much more boring. Most of us boost groups to 60 in 1 day /played or less. You're not going to do that questing. However if you want to see the content and are tired of boosting, by all means do so. Do what's fun for you.

Jim has it right, if you use A to do the boosting then when the team hits 60 C & D grant 30 levels each to a toon on A to match. It just means that B will end up with a couple of free toons depending on how many teams you bring up.

Extremely valid point. I don't know what I was thinking.. Guess trying to lvl all 5 together so I get a freebie 60 instead of having to spend gift lvls to complete the team. Looks like lvling 4 and granting 1 is quicker in the long run if u do more than one team.

What do y'all do for monitoring instance/hour? I tried installing loot&reset from wowinterface, but it doesn't work for me. I get no window on the screen and can't toggle it on.

    Thanks

With the cascading of granted levels.
IE, granting levels based off of levels which were granted to you...

For every link in the chain, you need to level two toons, for the levels to add up to a full toon.
    So you have...
    A -- New(C) -- New(D)
    B -- New(E)

If you level four toons, D will give C two toons, and C can give A a full toon.
Either toons would also be no cascading levels wasted.
Except that we can only have ten toons on an account.

A boosting four toons on BCDE.
    Gets you:
    B/C/D/E x4 (From the boosting)
    A/B x2 (From C/E granted levels)
A x1 (From C based on levels received from D).

    For a total of:
    A x3
    B x6
    C x4
    D x4

Plus the existing toons on A/B since they were existing accounts prior to RAF.
    EverQuest I: Bard / Enchanter / Druid / Wizard / 2x Magician.
    Diablo III: 4x Crusader & 4x Wizard.

Most people will cast a buff and use that to count down time in instance. 15 minutes is the key (or is it 12?) any faster and you get locked out for the rest on the hour.
RAF Tour Guide files are obsolete, I went to Zygor

Non-heroic instances can be reset 5 times per hour.
Given the initial run, which does not require a reset.

That is 6 runs in 60 minutes, or a run every 10 minutes.
However, after the first hour (6 runs, 5 resets), 12 minutes becomes the key (the point where you can run back to back without waiting for a reset).

    000 - 010... Initial Run.
    010 - 020... Reset #1
    020 - 030... Reset #2
    030 - 040... Reset #3
    040 - 050... Reset #4
    050 - 060... Reset #5

    060 - 070... Reset #6
    070 - 080... Reset #7
    080 - 090... Reset #8
    090 - 100... Reset #9
    100 - 110... Reset #10
    110 - 120... Locked Out.

Once you get your pulls down, your slave movement etc.
You can slow yourself down to 12 minutes a run, by looting.

One trick I like is to use the Master Looter system.
Put the loot on Master Looter.
Have your booster/active toon be the Master Looter.
Have your booster opt-out of loot.
Set the threshold to whatever color (or better), you'd like your Master Looter to have to master loot the drops.

Now, because you have opted out of loot, nothing sparkles.
Unless it has a (threshold) or better item on it, in which case the corpse sparkles.
And you'll have to right click on it, and pick who the item goes to.

loot&reset hasn't worked in a long time, I wish someone would pick it up and fix it.

Anyway, from what I've seen it tends to be entering 5 instances per hour, not resetting it 5 times per hour, so 12 minutes per reset is the way to go, and even then, if I get too close to the limit, I sometimes get one toon on the team getting locked out while the rest aren't, which is just really weird and annoying.
