Default Basic/Advanced Shaman macro set-up and help.

Alrighty, first off, new here (go figure), and I'm gonna try to 4 box, 4 shamans. Seems popular and I've seen video on it and it looks really fun.

I'll be 4 boxing on one computer, KeyClone, 2 monitors.

I've read over every sticky here and tried to understand most of these macros but I'm not quite understanding. I understand the Accept macro, and the BigButton macro, as it was put. What I do not understand, is how to actually get all of these things working together to form a smooth flow of moving, targetting and attacking with 4 characters.

Basically, I would love a pro here to give me a rundown of a macro set-up for 4 shamans, obviously 3 alts and the main.

Say, from buttons 1 to =, in each slot give me an example of macros I would put there for the alts. Would the main have to have macros as well? Or just his basic attacks and abilities?

As I stated above, I know how to get the very basic and needed macros set-up, but beyond that, I wouldn't really understand how to move my shamans into an attack where all 4 were preforming the same thing with only one keystroke.

    Thanks greatly for any help.

    4 shaman? Easy.

Put whatever spell you want on your main's bar.

Then put this macro on each of the followers:
    [code:1]/assist <mainchar>
    /cast <spellname>[/code:1]

For example, if you put "lightning bolt" as mainchar's button1, then the other chars would have this macro on their button1:
    [code:1]/assist Mainchar
    /cast Lightning Bolt[/code:1]

Furthermore, go to menu->keybindings and unbind all of your movement keys (i.e. wasd, q and e).

On one of your buttons, make a macro that just says /follow <mainchar> -- for example, put this on button "="
Whenever you want the shaman to follow you around, just press "=".

Finally, you'll notice that your following shaman will never break follow... So what happens if you want them to stand still? Go back to your menu->keybindings and make a "spread out" key. For example, set the button "g" to strafe left on one shaman, strafe right on another shaman, and move back on your last shaman. It can remain as nothing on your main character.

This makes the characters go from this:
    [code:1]AB
CD[/code:1] (essentially all on top of each other)
    to this:
    [code:1]C A B

    D[/code:1]

    Ta-da. Instant multibox macros.

Thanks for the reply, this does seem much easier than I was reading into.

I guess what I didn't quite understand was the Focus macros, are those necessary? What exactly do they do?

Also, what about totems, for laying one different type of totem per shaman with one keystroke.

And massive chain healing? When I want to chain heal the entire group but I don't want my main targeted, IE self-cast.

I guess I'm looking for some even more advanced macros, and understanding how they work.

No, they are not necessary, but they are helpful.

You can type /focus <personname> and that person will show up with a glowy look to them. Any time you type /target [target=focus] you will then target your focus.

Example - you can use a focus to set a CC target. So if you de-target your focus and notice the sheep breaks, you can just press this:
    [code:1]/target [target=focus]
    /cast Polymorph[/code:1]
And voila, it's re-sheeping the focus.

That's the simple explanation for focus. It allows us extra targeting flexibility. Many people use it to target CC targets or to identify the person they want to /follow and /assist.

Here's the "chain heal off myself" macro that you want:
    [code:1]/target [target=player]
    /cast Chain Heal
    [/code:1]

And totems don't need targets. So you don't need any special macros. Example, if "f" is your fire totem button, you can put searing totem on each of your shaman's "f" button. No targeting/macroing necessary.

If you want 3 shaman to lay healing stream and 1 to lay mana spring (since mana spring doesn't stack), you can put a mana spring button on "f", and fill the rest of the "f" buttons on the other shaman with Healing Stream totem.

They can be slimmed down further.

    [code:1]
    /cast [target=focus] Polymorph
    and
    /cast [target=player] Chain Heal
    and
    /target focus
    [/code:1]

    Valaroth:

The difference/benefit is you don't have to change your characters target to cast a spell on something using this method. If you are playing with 4 mages + priest, you can have the mages keep the mobs each of them are suppose to sheep as their /focus target, then get their main DPS target from the "main". Then they can DPS away , resheep if necessary and revert back to DPS without changing targets.

The opposite of that, is to keep the priest as your focus target (using the above example). You then have your mages keep the mobs they are suppose to sheep on target, and DPS using focus. So they can cast fireballs or whatnot on the target they are suppose to without actually switching to it.

    Don't confuse him!

My macros are very simple! Baby steps, baby steps! Once he gets the hang of the baby steps there are plenty of macros in the macro sticky he can play with.

Haha, which I am excited to start playing with once I get my Shamans up and running with the basic stuff needed to be running =P

Everything I've read about and looked over and watched, all my questions have been answered thus far. Now my biggest concern is questing, since WoW loves those random drop rate, collect X amount of something, quests. Looks like I'll have to find a tank friend so I can level fairly decently in instances.

Oh, and of course I'll have to really spend a large amount of time key binding since all my attacks now must be keyed! I'm a clicker in some regards, only my most important spells and abilities are keybound to certain strokes. So that's a nice little hump I'll have to get over. Thank god I have a G15 that I'll put to good use now.

Vyndree rocks. This will definitely help me get started with my shamans.
