RAF - Triple XP Range

I apologize if this has been discussed before. If not, I find this very interesting.

I'm running a team through SM Cathedral and accidentally killed one of the mobs while pulling. I thought I was out of xp range entirely, but I saw my xp text pop up. I noticed that the amount of XP was the same as I got while I was in triple XP range. I'm thinking - wow, did they increase the triple XP range?

So I did a test. I killed a Scarlet Myrmidon out of triple xp range and one within. The total XP is the same! Check out the screenshot:



The experience total was 306. Out of range it included +86 grp bonus. Within triple xp range, it included +204 RAF bonus and +30 grp bonus.


Edit: Ok, realized right after I posted that I had rested bonus. So that's double XP. But still, with RAF it should be more right?
Anyone have an explanation?

Edit 2: Wait, if there was rested bonus it should say in the breakdown right?

rested bonus is not used while getting RAF bonus. I also do not think there is any range denominator on the triple xp, you either get xp for the kill or you do not get xp, range is not a factor as far as I am aware. From reading here, a lot of people that do not loot, just park their toons at the entrance and clear the instance. Personally I normally keep my toons at the start of each section in SM and only move once that section is cleared.

I do the same, I pull mobs in close enough to where I know they get XP. I don't loot to save time.

About three months ago i was boosting in strat and noticed that there was a difference in triple xp and normal xp range. Maybe that has changed? Maybe I was drinking too much that night?

If you park your toons at the intrance of Cath......Your xp range is right at the door you need to open to get to the boss. Pull the whole intrance in one sweep(if you have a pally) or two.....and dps right outside the doors.
Just an fyi if you didnt know allready.


....and I did notice that sometimes the xp status(like you have in the screenshot).....might not give you the entire correct breakdown. But it will give you the correct total.
