Default Æro's Greetings and "I need help" post.

    Greetings everyone,

first off; thanks for providing me with both the means as well as a medium to share and learn multiboxing experiences.

second: the "I'm new and I need help" part, sorry

I read the Stickies, so I got some basic means of getting around. I have come across a problem though.

The problem is getting my Hunter to maintain his range. I have a Follow macro, which makes getting around really easy, but I would really like him to stop all movement as soon as either he or the main char (probably a warrior or shaman) get engaged in combat.
Is this possible? The whole idea would be to have a charge-macro on my warrior bound to the same key as my assist macro on the hunter. The Warrior charges the mob, the Hunter assist. Pet gets sent in and maintains aggro, Warrior can go fury while the Hunter increases dps with Auto Shot/Serpent Sting.

What happens now is that the Warrior charges, the Hunter assists, but instead of stopping movement he'll also close in on the target meaning he's not far enough to be able to actually shoot. He's just standing there with bow and arrow not doing anything.

I tried the "Formation / Movement " sticky but it's very unclear to me still. Perhaps the formation thing could help me maintain the distance. Maybe there's a /stopmovement command I can add to the assist macro?

Or should I simply, as suggested by one of the stickies, stick to either 2 melee or 2 ranged chars and not mix them?

You can try binding a movement on the clone to the same action as charge on the warrior. I have F12 bound to backwards movement on my hunter. So if my hunter is too close I just hold down F12 for a second to make the hunter back up.

Channeled abilities will also break follow so if you have Aimed Shot you can open with it and I think it will break follow but you better be ready to Feign Death right after lol.

I'd do what Thinus says. Pick a key, I use K, bind it to forward on your tank, backward on your hunter. Then, click on a badguy. Keep your hunter on follow of course, and as soon as you get within range, use K to approach. Your tank will walk up to the mob and aggro, the hunter will back up and be in range.

Just make sure you use K as the alternative forward/backward, or else it'll unmap your W key.

Decided to somewhat change the topic title to a more appropriate one

Small update to my current status:
I've decided to let go of the whole Hunter idea and took a Shaman/Warrior instead. The idea would be to have the Warrior as a main while using the Shaman for the obvious reasons (Windfury, heals, ...).

It seems I just can't get the alt char to fully work as intended. Since I'm using the mouse to navigate coupled to excessive use of Charge, the Shaman automatically stops and switches to combat. Kind of frustrating to see the Shaman do what the Hunter is supposed to do whereas the Hunter does what the Shaman should do.

It seems that the only way to fix it would be to have my Warrior pull the target back a bit into range of the Shaman. Is there an easier way to fix this? I tried combining both the /follow and /assist macros into a single macro, but still the follow command automatically leaves a gap, putting the Shaman out of reach.

After some more testing I do notice that activating the "click to move" in Interface options makes your character attack as well as get into the right position for it. Is there any way to translate that right-mousebutton-click into a string or something usable in a macro?

Sorry if I'm asking rather dumb questions, but I've used search as well as read some very informative posts, yet none could really help me with this particular problem.

bind your shaman's movement keys to whatever your warrior's keys are +alt.

So if you use ESDF bind the shaman to ALT+E ALT+S ALT+D ALT+F so while youe warrior is fighting you just hold alt+e and your shaman walks right up. but your going to find nothing but pain if you are thinking about meleeing with the shaman. The best bet for war enhance shaman would be just not to charge. walk up attack then back up a step so the shaman is meleeing too. but in pvp you may as well just leave the keyboard and get a drink and get ready for the walk.

and as for the huunter question. just bind the second forward key on the hunter to the same button that hte warrior uses for intercept. this will break follow and if he is too cfar out to shoot just hold down the intercept key till he is close enough then dps like normal. But hunters din't have a deadzone anymore so i'm not sure why you had this question at this time.

But don't let me discourage you from playing what ever combo you find exciting and fun. Start slow, when you hit a problem try to change up your macros to fix it and pretty soon you will be amazed at what you have learned you can do with a macro. I like to pretend that i'm practicing for PvP everytime i PvE so when i see a problem i adjust my macros and then move on. Good luck and Have Fun.

No. Meleeing will always break /follow.

Flip the mob around so that:
    [warrior][mob][shaman]
with the mob facing the warrior. This is good for 2 reasons -- mobs can't parry you from behind giving you more dps, and you can charge in, flip the mob around, and the shaman will autofollow until it's just barely in melee range...

You know what? Screw it, I'll just draw pics.

    [code:1][mob] <-charge--[warrior] [shaman][/code:1]
    [code:1][mob][warrior] [shaman][/code:1]
    [code:1][warrior][mob] [shaman][/code:1]
    [code:1][warrior][mob] [shaman][/code:1]
    [code:1][warrior][mob] [shaman][/code:1]
    [code:1][warrior][mob][shaman][/code:1]
Commence shaman melee, which breaks /follow! By this time warrior should have teh aggros! Huzzah!

This whole business is why you don't see alot of multiboxers with multiple melee classes.
