Our official stance on "Mains" and "Alts" is this: http://www.deathistemporary.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=227

3. Toons can only be switched once every 4 months, with the following limitations:
* The class/role you are switching from has an abundance.
* The class/role you are switching to has a need.
* The toon you are switching to meets or exceeds current raid levels for the role. (subject to officer inspection)
* We're not here to gear alts. This should be a serious decision for you

Requesting a change can only be done once per month, until accepted. A switch can only be made once every 4 months, and only when approved.

We want people to be happy and raid on the toon they want to raid on, but you have to show us you're serious about the toon you want to raid on. Post here if you want to change your main, and one of the officers or myself will get with you. We may tell you that you don't meet our current requirements, but you can still change, you just may not be given priority for a raid spot.
This is what we've gone by since day 1 of starting DiT. Now that we're all on Kil'Jaeden and things are different, our core values haven't changed. Specifically our policy for alts and mains we can't afford to change. Current content requires consistency and we have to keep gearing up the raid team to be able to complete the encounters. Gear has never been a priority for DiT, it's always been a method to complete an encounter. If gear was a priority we'd use a DKP system. Gear is there to help us do what we do every night, but do it better.

As a multiboxer my definition of "mains" and "alts" has always been a bit off the normal. I've always said "I don't have alts, I only have mains". Now that we're in a guild full of multiboxers, we have the same number of people raiding, but our access to different toons is far greater than anything we had on Madoran. I think this is a great blessing for us since we can always call on someone to fill a gap in just about any situation we come across.

Swapping in and out alts has it's downside. We're essentially spreading loot across more toons than we need / should. When we spread loot too far, then it takes longer to get to harder encounters since we're having to play catch up with loot. No one wants to farm a wing for 2 months to gear up for the next wing, or gear up for a hard mode.

With all that said, and before I get any tl;dr or "cool story bro"s, here is where we as a raid team officially stand with "mains" and alts:

These toons are considered your raiding "mains", they are posted here and on DB:

Tank1: Fenril
Tank2: Zod (lolret offspec)
Healer1: Toraneko
Healer2: Kaulan
Healer3: Myska (Fur, Offspec Elemental) - SatinWorship (Disc/Shadow) - As of March 1, 2010
DPS1: Svpernova (Cat) (also MT/OT) - (crum1515 as of March 1, 2010)
DPS2: Qwiggles (Offspec Holy)
DPS3: Dapao (Steelwall)
DPS4: Ganpao (Silverfang/Lolkin - Boomkin Offspec Resto)
DPS5: David (Dave - Elementlol)
These are the toons we require every raid night. If you have a geared alt that is capable of filling your roll with absolutely no consequence to the rest of the raid group, I'm fine with you bringing your alt for a specific fight (or the entire night) with the following restrictions:

* You can't slow us down, you must have the toon at the instance and ready to go.
* Your alt will pass ALL loot to Main spec raiding mains and offspec. You'll get a drop before it's sharded, but after offspec rolls.
* You must let the RL (Toraneko / Svper) know at least an hour before the start of the raid if you are bringing an alt for the night or for a specific fight.
* Your main cannot lag behind in progression / gear level. You must be able to maintain our raiding level or higher on your main.

If you want to switch mains, you need to come to Toraneko or myself and let us know. The restrictions on main changes are described in the quotes above. If you want to bring in an alt for a shot at a common drop (lolmarrowgar) just let us know.
