Thread: The Plan

  1. #1

    Default The Plan

I've been lurking through the site for over a year now, and had tried to Multibox about a year go with Keyclone, with some limited success.

But I've decided to try it again.

    The Plan

I already have my higher level single toons, so I went ahead and activated the two previous account I tried multiboxing with earlier, and added two more, for a total of 5.

I made a placeholder toon to start out with the new guys to quest/kill to level 10ish.(Having an 80 in the party yielded 0 XP for the little dudes) until they are able to head into instances. From there, I'll boost them through instances with the 80. I've read about how this is the most popular way to do it, but I was cuious if anyone had any rough estimates on the levelling process when this is accomplished (I.E. approx XP/level gain, time in each instance, etc.)

Once my team of Warlocks reaches level 60, I'll probably switch to a second team, to get the most of RAF. Granted, 2 of my accounts aren't RAF because they're older account, but I'm thinking that is negligable by the time they reach that high. I'll use the Granted levels for some single toons I have that have been stagnant at level 35 for a few years.(Warrior/Rogue/Paladin etc.)

I'm not attempting multi-class group ATM, since I'm just getting my feet wet (The first attempt never made it past level 10.)

All damage macros on the slaves will be using the Sticky Targeting 101 macro presented by Lacitpo.

/target [@target, harm, exists, nodead] [@targettarget, harm, exists, nodead] [@Gaultwo, exists, nodead] /cast SPELL NAME HERE

In addition to that, I have the Sell all Grey's, Mail All Uncommon and the Super Macro for everything else.

Will have a Skinner, Miner, Enchanter and Herbalist on the slaves, even though my main is an Herbalist.

    Here's a list of my current specs/peripherals I'm using.

    ASUS Notebook G50VT
    Intel Core Duo2 CPU P7450 @ 2.13 ghz 2.13ghz
    4.0gb RAM
    Vista 64bit OS
    nVidia 9800m GS 512mb

    Belkin Nostromo n52te

    IS and ISOBoxer
    Jamba
    Questhelper
    Postal
+ infinite amount of more on the main. Just need those on the slaves.

I would like anyone who reads this to offer suggestions/tips on how to make it as painless as possible to level, or tips that haven't showed up on the Leveling guides posted in other threads/forums.

Whichever toon is boosting, call that Account A.
Call the other existing accounts B and C.

    RAF link like this:
    A
    B -- Linked to -- D
    C -- Linked to -- E

    Group BCDE. Boost with A.
Get as many sets of four to 60th as you care to.
It's a lot faster now, with RAF then it will be down the road.

From your avatar/picture, I'll guess you are horde.
    Boost like this:

    1-10 Quest, everyone grouped.
    11-20 Shadow Fang Keep
    20-45 Scarlet Monastery
    45-55 Stratholme
    55-60 Ramparts

    Then do the next team.
When you're done leveling teams from 1-60.
You can quest or boost, I'd boost to 68th or so.

    60-65 Underbog.
    65-68 Auchendoun instance of choice.
    EverQuest I: Bard / Enchanter / Druid / Wizard / 2x Magician.
    Diablo III: 4x Crusader & 4x Wizard.

You're guide helped quite a bit on setting up ISBoxer.

I already had the D-E accounts linked to account A, since the other 4 accounts would only be slaves/AH smugglers. I don't mind not getting B-C RAF simply because I wouldn't be able to use the bonus levels on either of them, since they're all sitting at level 1 ATM. That's another perk to trying Multiboxing again, I wasted the previous attempts by not using em in the 90 day window.

    Thanks for the advice.

I somewhat agree with this, and will go more in depth of how i boosted my RAF in the past.

    1-8 questing
    8-16 rfc
    16-22 sfk
    22-25 sm library
    25-40 sm [armory > cath > reset> cath> armory] > repeat brackets
40-44 zf (2 runs) if you get the quests this brings you to 45 (go'zirra nolonger requires that mallet)
45-55 stratholme undead side OR scholomance (if boosting with a paladin i would go with the sholomance 2 room method)
    55-60 = ramparts
60-65 = ramparts (about 1 hour per level- i did this on a ret paladin) but underbog is fine too, just longer.
65-68 = auchendoun instance (i chose sethekk halls)
68-73 = Upguard Keep (can be soloed by druid or prot paladin but if you are running 4 classes with a heal...any class will do)
    73-75 questing
75-80 = north western part of icecrown (refer to hobb's videos)

Total time for boosting to 60 = ~ 12-16 hours
Total average time per level till 68 = 2 hours
Total average time per level till 73 = 2-4 hours (depending on run speed)
Total time questing = I'd GUESS about 5 hours for a boxer, maybe 6 per level
Total time 75-80 = With only ME it was 1 hour per level, with a boxing team i'd guess 2-3 hours per level but because you can heal much better for your runner (regardless of class) you could cut down time for more kills with bigger pulls. Also this assumes minimal looting.

    Total time: ~ 75 hours

    3 days played.

Team is up to level 14 now, will be heading out of RFC for SFK in a few more runs.

JAMBA makes everything so much easier to work around, but I still need some tweaking to do.

Nice, good luck with the mind numbing farming. IF you can view a movie on a second screen... GO DO IT

Level 30, I never remembered how much I hated SM leveling up.

Surprisingly, it doesn't get hot at all. ASUS made a really good model with this one, with an air inlet and a giant fan port. The only place it ever gets warm is by the exhaust, but every other place I can touch is cool.

For shits and giggles, I hooked it up to my 50+" Plasma. Looked awesome, minus screwing with the placement of buttons. Alas, with no cordless mouse/keyboard, I soon went back to laptop only.

Edit: Also a giant thanks to Shodoken for the instance tips. I prolly woulda been farming the wrong ones at the wrong time. It may seem I'm going a little slow, but I only get to play a few hours a week do to the OpTempo at work lately.
