Default Basic Mac set up + Plexer Primer

I'm a noob to multiboxing. Just finished leveling my four shaman 1 paladin to lvl 61 (with the use of RAF). It took me a bit of searching and messing around to come up with a quick easy set up for mac. Other people are doing this already but if your a noob like me it's all a bit complicated at first.

Here is my setup that you can create in about 10 minutes. And will work for basic multiboxing pve and pvp. Though if you want to do more complicated stuff you need to fiddle more.

    1. Download Plexer (it's much easier than clonekey)

    2. Enable expose and spaces on your mac (with expose make it so you can switch space by moving the mouse up into a corner)

    3. boot up your copies of WOW

    4. Add these copies of WoW to Plexer and set your do not pass keys. This stops certain keys from broadcasting. Initially, i just had the movement keys in there.

    5. Move your copies of WoW to be in different spaces - this way you can view your full screen of wow and just hotkey switch to the other screens or use the mouse (my preferred option) with expose to pull the 'spaces' up and select the box u want. It's like having four monitors on one laptop.

    5. Macros. You don't need many. The main one you need is the 'hydra' macro

    MACRO ONE
    /focus [target=char1, nodead] [target=char2, nodead]

put this macro on all your chars and bind to a key (repeat the macro for how many your boxing). What this does is set a character as the focus. It sets focus in an order too. So if char 1 is alive he is focus, if he dies you need to switch chars using spaces to char 2 hit the macro and it will make him the focus ect ect. With spaces this works well cause you just set your characters up in the correct order via spaces char one spaces 1 char 2 spaces 2 ect ect.

now you simply make spells like your DPS spells with a macro like this.

    MACRO TWO
    /assist focus
    /cast Chain Lightning

so all your characters will have an assist focus macro on their dps spells (and whatever spell you need to assist the main on)

once you had done that your good to go, you nuke on your main and all the slaves will assist and nuke your target. Personally i don't use focus macros on the first toon char1, because i always play him first.

Now you run into some targeting issues sometimes if char1 dies and every nuke is bound to a target focus marco on char 2, like with switching targets and stuff. It's rarely a problem but if it annoys you just make a clear focus macro.

    MACRO THREE

auto follow is a must. there are two ways to do it that i use. Originally i simply made a macro on all of them to autofollow the focus.

    /target focus
    /follow

Then i discovered you do it in Jamba. Jamba is a multiboxing mod that is well worth getting. You can make a macro with jamba that will make your characters autofollow whoever's screen you have up without using focus and you can bind it to a mouse click, which you can't do with Plexer. I use the Jamba follow now, but i do notice for some reason i get a half sec of lag whenever i use it. Perhaps i have that click bound to something else as well? I'm not sure the cause of the lag yet perhaps it's something caused by jamba itself. Either way you only have to click it once so you don't really notice it.

    6. basic formation

    formation
I don't really know how to do any sophisticated formation. And have not needed to so far. but it's easy to do a basic one. A formation macro is useful because you use it to stop autofollowing as well. So say i run an instance on the pally with the four shamans slaved behind. they all follow then i 'park' them before the pull. i press my formation macro they all stop autofollowing and assume a formation. Then i pull the mobs on the paladin without the shaman nubs running in and dying.

A simple formation is bind say the 'p' key to a different directional movement on each char. My basic one i use is two guys move a bit left and two guys move a bit right. You can see how you can play with it though. you can make one dude pop a bit back or whatever you bind the key to.

It's useful in pvp too if someone runs into you can fan out a bit and still nuke them easily. I'm sure there are better ways to do this, this is just a simple one.

    7. go pwn

This is a quick really basic way to set up your multibox team. If anyone has any ideas of how to do it better let me know. I've run instances up to 60 like this easily. And so far i've rocked bgs with the four shamans (i leave the paladin out) without problems.

I think that's probably as quick and simple as it gets without running boot camp and using ISboxer which i wish mac mad.

Hopefully Plexer will add mouse broadcasting and repeater regions and FTL.

if it turns out i have been doing this the hard way someone please let me know!!!

    Default

Has anyone figured out how to set up FTL with Plexer, Jamba on the Mac? I'm struggling with it.

And where is the macro that makes Jamba switch the follow based on the active screen?
