    Default [Octopus] Very low framerate

Just coming back to multiboxing (my previous attempt didn't go very far though). I've read good things about ISboxer, I do plan to give that a try. But I'm familiar with Octopus, so I went ahead to get started with that. However, I'm suffering from very low framerate (~10fps on main and slaves) that makes it unplayable.

    Machine spec:
    i5/750 o/c 3.8ghz
    8gb ram
    512mb 4850
    64gb ssd (with wow folder)
    24" (1920x1080) + 19"(1440x900)
    windows 7 x64

I ran 4 boxes from same folder (going to be 5), I didn't use separate folder/ symlink etc, I think (correct me if I'm wrong) those are just to make different setting easier to manage, but shouldn't affect performance? I just want to set it up quickly and have a play around.

I've tried different resolution, game setting at 1280x800, main blow up to 1920x1080, then tried 1440x900, then at 1280x800, but didn't improve anything. I've set maxfps 60 for main, 30 for slaves.

One thing I did notice is if I run just 3 boxes, doesn't matter which 3, main+2slaves or 3slaves, fps goes up to max (main ~60, slave ~30), also cpu usage only at ~15%. But as soon as the 4th box joins, fps drops to ~10, cpu shot up to 90%+, memory usage stayed around 4gb for both cases. Btw, this is at the new player starting area.

It seems VERY weird to me that 3box vs 4box performance would be so much different, any idea what the problem might be? Thanks in advance.

Edit: nevermind, it seems to work fine now, I played around with some different settings, not sure which one helped. Still it seems weird at previous setting that 3box vs 4box performed so differently.

This was my experience as well. It isn't really an Octopus thing (you could kill Octopus and still have the poor framerates). For some reason my machine kept tipping over at 5. I could run 4 without issue. Once I turned down some of the settings in-game I was able to add the 5th without issue.

Get your toons a port to Dalaran and see what your framerates are there. That will let you know if your rig is dialed in.

    Good luck!
