Default Wow - I'm impressed with my Comp. Stress testing-HowFarToGo

Okay so, a few months back I asked how many wows my PC could handle - I was told 2, 3 max.

    Specs are

    3 gig ddr2
    6800 GT BFG (256 ram)
    P4 3.2 CPU

So I've recently loaded up three wows and I get these results:

Yeah....3 Wows, < 50% cpu Usage, and only 900 megs of 3 gigs of ram being used.

I've noticed that if I don't have atleast one of the WoW's minimized, my cpu usage sky rockets to 100%. However, with just my main, leader WoW maximized, and the other two minimized, these were my results! 30-40% cpu usage...huh.

So what am I suppose to watch out for? Am i just trying to avoid hitting 100% CPU Usage, or do I need to avoid a certain threshhold like 90%+?

I'm not sure how far to go with the stress testing of my PC. How do I know my limits?

What you should be trying to avoid would be two things

    1) reaching a memory used value that is greater than the amount of ram you actually have, which with 3 gigs shouldnt be a problem even with 5 clients
    2) getting to a point where your main window lags so much that it isnt playable. I personally find its best to have ALL windows not lag (major towns being the exception) but that is just preference to me and aids in movement and such. You should try using wow maximizer because you can limit the FPS each client uses.

I wouldnt expect to get 5 clients out of that machine though, even with them all minimized.

Avoid the 100% your comp would be like WTF you doing to me man.

Your current 40% is fine. 40% is not going to kill the PC. The CPU might get a little hotter but you can always make it cooler VIA a better fan or water cooled that helps with performance

Just because your CPU can handle a 100% load doesn't mean that prolonged use at that load (as with playing video games for hours would entail) is a good idea without proper cooling.

Consider testing in a highly populated area too.

Not sure if this has been mentioned but...

I set my max framerate on my 4 slave toons' windows to 10.

    /console maxfps 10

    Runs considerably better.
