Sungrass has been a major pain for me as well. I have taken to doing Mithril -> Truesilver transmutes to bypass a small section of it.
But then you get them up and get the x5 Cardinal Ruby transmute and it is all worth it![]()

I'm curious, what's your plan for 22 alchemists? The reason I ask is, if you are planning to make a killing I think you will be disappointed. My server (fairly average server I think) cannot sustain 5 alchemists a day, much less 22. Not unless you want to live on the AH while you are dealing with people undercutting you.
You might be able to corner the market I guess, but again, lots of time monitoring AH.
So what is you long term goal out of curiosity?
No matter where you go, there you are.
I'm doing the same, and i already have buyers for all my gems if i were to sell them on horde. If i were to x-fer them to alliance i'd be making atleast 30g more uncut, and 50g more cut (thats after both .05 and .15 auctionhouse taxes) there are many servers which can sustain someone with large amounts of gems. High pop pvp servers seem to be the case with high X faction to low Y faction ratios (example, illidan is 6 to 1 horde to alliance and is a full server)
The Internet: We Know Drama
If you're gona screw with my sig at least leave the thing bolded :P
I got a great scheme double your gold guarantee, just send it to my team on Daggerspine! You will get it back in no time....
Dailies, dailies, and more dailies.
Mining, mining and more mining.
Flower picking, flower picking, and more flower picking.
Daggerspine Alliance: Phoebus(Tank), Soozanuna(Heals/Tailor), Angakak (Enchanter), Wakantanaka(Herb/Alch), Znakharka, Jonhyone(JC), Marious(Other Tank/BS), Magnux(Enchanter), Coyolxhauqui(LW)
ok
Dailys is a simple and fast way to earn gold.
Does anyone have a list of boxing friendly dailys? You know.. Kill quests and NOT collect quests? Where is the best Dailys web guide out there?
Just remember what ol' Jack Burton does when the earth quakes, and the poison arrows fall from the sky, and the pillars of Heaven shake. Yeah, Jack Burton just looks that big ol' storm right square in the eye and he says, "Give me your best shot, pal. I can take it"
I made a spreadsheet, which is basically the lowest priced mats for transmutes, and the lowest price for each cut gem, and it calculates profit. Of course there is the assumption that things sell.
So far I've got 5 alchemists doing transmutes each day. I list gems for 12 hours, and don't bother to relist if I am undercut. But I don't put up more then one at a time, even if I have multiples. I try to have one of each cut at a time, and then multiples of the gems which are selling the most. I'm willing to play the undercut game with the undercutters. There's one guy who checks fairly often, and undercuts me by 1 copper; the others seem to check the AH no more then once a day or so.
I've sold 8 out of the 16 gems I have produced so far. So the system seems to be working fine.
The goal is to be able to quit doing the dailies, which are incredibly boring and monotonous, while still retaining an income. All of my alliance toons have their epic flyers, aside from the leftover teams from RAF who are in the process of leveling to 68th for alchemy purposes. Horde side I'm sitting at 13k, but the toons are only 22nd and far lower priority then my alliance side toons; I'd like each to have epic flyers and they probably will have the gold before they're the level to need it. I wouldn't mind 5k per toon, as a cushion against whatever cash sink is introduced in Cataclysm.
At the moment, of the cuts I know, after the materials cost the profit range is decent.. My actual profits on the 8 gems sold:
Eye of Zul - Turbid 195g 21s
Ametrine - Empowered 192g 08s
Eye of Zul - Lambent 187g 21s
Dreadstone - Infused 176g 71s
Majestic Zircon - Solid 166g 34s
Dreadstone - Shifting 163g 29s
Dreadstone - Shifting 163g 29s
Ametrine - Lucent 159g 80s
Looking at the toons I have available, I could have 29 alchemists who are part of teams/character sets. I have 3 more toons who are not on any team, that likely won't level up but have the open trade slot if I really wanted to level them. If profits slipped to 100g per cut, I'd be quite happy regardless... that would be slightly more then I'm making per day now from dailies, in a fraction of the time.
So far, I am planning for 29 alchemists... The server economy is pretty strong alliance side. And horde side the AH is relatively dead; anything I transfer over (for 1 copper via the neutral AH) sells horde-side very quickly. Could sell gems there too, quite easily if I need to.

Not my creation, got it from this site, but prior to the forum change.
My link to the original post no longer works.
My route is....
Take every daily on the airship, except for the pvp one.
- Blood of the Chosen
- Slaves to Saronite
- That's Abominable
- Neutralizing the Plague
- Drag and Drop
- Not a Bug
- No Rest for the Wicked
- The Solution Solution
- Retest Now
Fly down to 63,51 and take the escort, killing Vyrkul along the way.
If the village area is farmed heavily (weekends), just run back down the way you came up on the way out, and Vrykul will respawn for you.
Once you get to the village, go to the Saronite caves, 57,57.
Rescue 10 slaves, then fly to 63,51 and turn in the escort.
Fly up to the wall and kill a giant for the spine (each toon can loot it).
Use the spine which gets you a Vial of Spinal Fluid.
Go into the cave, do Neutralizing the Plague.
Exit the cave, fly over the edge.
Do That's Abominable and The Solution Solution.
Fly east to Crusader's Pinnacle (79,72) and take the flightpath to The Shadow Vault.
At SV, take:
- Leave Our Mark
- Vile Like fire
- Shoot'em Up
Go to Jotunheim (33,24).
Put your slaves in a cannon, and enable mouse broadcast, and just spam "3" for shoot.
Exit the cannons, kill Vyrkul with your team.
Park your toons 10 feet or so away, and /use Ebon Banner on everyone at once, while targeting the corpse.
If you're too close or too far, a toon won't use theirs, but in the sweet range you get 5x credit for one corpse (5-boxing).
After three Vyrkul (15 banners planted), fly further into the village to where the drake mounts are.
Leave your team flying and only enter the drake on one toon.
Fly around and burn buildings, until you get all 8.
Fly west to Death's Rise 20,48.
Take:
- From their Corpses, Rise
- No Fly Zone
Fly down into Onslaught Harbor, land on a tower.
Kill the mob there and use the Elixir thing on the corpse.
Leave the slaves parked, gather a bunch with the main (fly) and bring them to the tower.
AoE them down, then use Elixir on the corpses.
Repeat until both quests are done.
Fly back to Death's Rise.
Turn in both quests.
Fly (gryphon) to Ebon Hold.
Turn in all three quests.
Fly SE towards 55,29.
Do Not a Bug.
Kill Necro's first and Voidwalker's second.
You have 10 seconds from the time you kill the VW to use the Rod on its corpse.
Each team member can use it at the same time.
Once you get 10 necro kills (interact with target, each toon can loot) and use the rod on 5 VW's, fly over the edge to the summoning stone 54,34.
Click the skulls with your toons (mouse broadcasting FTW).
Mount up and fly to the cauldrons 48,32.
Use your items to make Writhing Mass and use that near the cauldron.
Fly back up the steps, and enter the cave on the left.
Take your team to the left and have everyone loot the item in the middle chest (far wall).
Retrace your steps, go to the right side... very large table.
Kill the mobs around it, and loot the item at both ends of the table (from the chest, with everyone on the team).
Just beyond the far side of the table (deep into the cave) you can see the last (4th) chest.
Again loot with everyone. Then use the item with all toons, so they each get the combined piece.
The combined piece will survive a log out, but the four remains will not.
Having done the combine on all team members, have one of your toons reloot each item from the chest.
That toon will summon Alumeth, and after he is dead... re-combine the four re-looted pieces.
You only need to get the items from the chests every 6th day.
Exit the cave, and fly straight out... to 55,46.
Kill the Initiates until you get 3 orbs.
Use the orbs on the Subjugators.
Once you have all three, fly back to the ship, turn everything in.
You're done.
If you loot everything you'll have 1150g, if you only loot the mobs with quest pieces you'll have 1100g.
I get anywhere from 1 to 3 stacks of Frostweave, and from 0 to 5 greens, neither of which is included in the 1100-1150g.
Make this macro for each toon.
Place them on the same action bar in the same space.
Create a repeater region which covers the button.
So you can click on it with the main toon, and have everyone click.
It makes it a lot easier.
/use Flesh Giant Spine
/use Pustulant Spinal Fluid
/use Abomination Reanimation Kit
/use Ebon Blade Banner
/use Diluted Cult Tonic
/use Rod of Siphoning
/use Tainted Essence
/use Writhing Mass
/use Orb of Illusion
/use Darkmender's Tincture
I've made a separate button for the Neutralizing the Plague.
So only one toon uses the spinal fluid at a time.

I'll eventually have an even number of toons on each transmute type.
I'm not sold on Cardinal Rubies being worthwhile, unless I can farm the mats myself.
After dailies today, assuming a little more sungrass on the AH (or I'll farm a few stacks if need be), I'll add another alchemist.
At the moment, I'm doing:
- Ametrites (have 2 of the 22 cuts)
- Dreadstones (have 2 of the 13 cuts)
- Eye of Zul (have 4 of the 19 cuts)
- Majestic Zircon (have 1 of the 4 cuts)
I've got an alchemist on King's Amber, but need another day of the JC daily to open a cut.
- King's Amber (have 0 of the 6 cuts)
On my server, Cardinal Rubies are the highest priced gems, but after deducting the material cost, they are the least profitable of the gems. Profit (after transmute material cost) ranges from 95g 04s to 122g 33s.
Looking at my 14-day trend on gem prices, there are 21 more profitable Ametrine cuts, 13 more profitable Dreadstone cuts, 18 more profitable Eye of Zul cuts, and 4 more profitable Majestic Zircon cuts.
