To be honest I haven't had much trouble in Hellfire, though I only got there this Saturday. There was a hunter who kept harassing me, I did kill him once thankfully. Then later a warrior thought it would be smart to kill me, yeah I camped his ass.

Generally I was left alone, though flying mounts did make the hunter and warrior a pain to deal with.

edit1: XP wise I went there when I was 59. I kinda wish I would have waited till 60 because I like to be lvl 62 when I go to Zang, I'm 2/3 through 61 so pretty close.

I ran out of quests (refuse to do the collection ones on 5 guys, unless it's an important chain) in HFP+Zangarmarsh, Terrokkar and currently Blades Edge, unable to get the quests for the next zone.

I did Ramparts/BF/SP/UB/MT along the way too.

I would recommend hitting Outlands at 58 and get geared up through the first tier of quests, then go back and run Strat/Scholo/Dire Maul etc for the quests there before proceeding. The TBC gear will make it so much easier and you still get decent XP for the mobs too.

This is the problem with hellfire. You've got 70's camping hte pvp objectives for marks or just for kicks while their guild sits them for Mag, and they'll stalk you from the sky until you're too paranoid to continue questing.

Not to mention the fel reaver. Seriously, do not stare at the sky too long that you forget about the fel reaver.

Hellfire is the outlands STV. Worse than nagrand -- at least once you're in Nagrand 70's will have to think if it's worth it to take on a multiboxer in their mid-60's. Low 60's a 70 ganker still stands a chance if they play well/have gear.

on my server - shadowmoon EU, we have like 3 times more horde then alliance and still I have quested through whole peninsula and didnt get ganked at all. I have met one very brave 70 hunter but after he got pwned, he ran in fear somewhere. Others 60-64 hordes were owned ofc.

Earlier today I went to Gurubashi with some of my guild mates and had some fights. The 1v1s I destroyed easily, though obviously it is very different from ganking. We did 2v3 (my five guys were part of the 2) and I learned a lot.

    I have 5 62 shaman and I teamed with a lock
The other team was a mage, priest and hunter.

What got me, and are the things I have trouble with when ganked, are if my main dies, fear, arcane explosion. By having these fights I got a lot more comfortable with PvP. I still need to work on my macros to switch lead in a PvP environment as most are still focused for PvE.

I'd really recommend this to people, I know its helped me. <3 my tremor sequence macro now.
