State of the raid team 2/3/10
The fact that I can sit and write this out knowing most of you have read a similar message from me makes me very happy. It makes me happy that you guys (and Fenril) like me enough to keep me in charge or our little raid boat. I just wanted to give you all a heads up on where we're at, where we're headed, and what challenges await us.
Where we are:
We're currently 5/12 ICC with ease, 2/5 ToGC with ease and not much focus, and we're short Algalon in Ulduar with no focus at all. Our current goal is to see Arthas dead. We haven't been able to stay on pace of the ICC gating because of our late start in ICC, and hell, Blizzard threw their own gating system right out the window. They were probably just as ecstatic to give us access to Arthas as we are to get there. I can honestly tell you, when we kill Arthas, that's going to complete a lot of my personal quests for what I want to do in this game. The scourge have always been my favorite part of the game, this expansion has been my absolute favorite time spent playing the game, it's been a great pleasure in sharing a lot of that with you all.
So we're 5/12, this week I plan to be 6/12 if not 7+/12. I have high expectations for us, I know we can do it. Rotface will be just another screen shot on our wall shortly just as the other bosses will join him in time. A lot of us are making our way through Honored with The Ashen Verdict. Once we're mostly exalted and once a good majority of us have our 2pc and 4pc T10 sets, we'll start extending raid IDs based on the number of availiable attempts left. But right now rep + badges are far to valuable to extend after a Saurfang / Festergut kill.
We technically have an open spot on the roster, mainly because I haven't formally (informally) asked (told) Dave he's our regular member. So barring any unforeseen absences we don't already know about, our team should be pretty complete. We could use a strong healer to bring in on nights we don't have Toraneko, but I'm working on that and should have a solution where we can just bring in another DPS these nights. We can always have Ganpao heal, but that takes away our #1 or #2 DPS, and on DPS tight fights, that's not ideal.
Where we're headed: (you kids behave, don't make me turn this raid around and take us all back to naxx)
We're heading to Arthas at what I think is a reasonable pace for progression so far. We're raiding 1 less night, and nearly 1 hour less a night than what we were doing on Madoran. I think a lot of us are a lot happier because of it. I think our new friends appreciate the short schedule as well.
What Challenges await us: ARTHAS! The fight is going to be pretty awesome but we still have some work a head of us to get there. Keeping our focus on every fight that is in front of us is crucial. Consistently performing and getting better and faster at boss kills is going to let us progress faster and faster into the depths of ICC. Just like we because faster at clearing Ulduar early bosses, we'll get faster in ICC as we get better gear and more accustomed to the trash / early bosses.
Today as I'm writing this, it's Feb 3rd. Barring any unplanned / unforeseen issues, I'd like to see us working on Arthas by the end of the month / or the 2nd week in March. That gives us a month + week to get the next 6 bosses down. We'll continue to farm VoA and the weekly raid until people are mostly geared out, or until we hit Arthas. Once we hit Arthas we will not do anything but work on him until we are out of attempts for the week. Then we'll go hit the weekly raid and VoA. Arthas will not be another Yogg-Saron for us. I say again, we will not do the same thing we did in Ulduar in ICC. My goal is for us to be farming Arthas until we all have everything we possibly want from him, then / during we'll start Heroic ICC.
Great times are upon us, we're all in good company, and we're working on what is probably the best times of my WoW career, I hope your as excited about being here as I am.
