Unhappy Toon Tweaking Boomkin DPS help!

I read in the forums about people easily pulling +1200 dps at my current lvl 75 range.

But my toons consistently do around 800-900 dps except when I really spam the dps button in instances I can get it to 1100 dps, but I think its because I have a moonfire build into my castsequence which then gets fired very fast and very often (which isen't the idear.

Anyway, its not the macros or eclipse proc I need help with, because theres some awesome guides in the macro forum, I need some help with the general setup of my guys in the form of Gear.

I tend to go for Intellect and Spirit stats on the gear I get from Quests. Also, if cloth drops which is better than my leather item I swap the leather out.

Can someone please take a look at my toons and tell me if i'm doing it okey?

I admit I haven't setup Eclipse Proc yet and i'm able to do the instances just fine. I just want to be 100% sure Im not doing something basically wrong with my gear setup.

    Changes I would make -

Get rid of Dreamstate. You have a whole slew of Innervates to use, there's no need to waste 3 talent points on such a minimal amount of regen.

Drop Genesis. Again, a lot of points spent for minimal gain.

I'm guessing that you're talking PvE and not PvP. In that case, you don't need Owlkin Frenzy. It is only a 15% chance of a 10% boost when you get hit, you should not be getting hit enough to see much if any increase from this.

You probably can drop Moonglow, too for the same reason as Dreamstate.

There's no need for points in Nature's Focus, you should have hit t2 resto off 5/5 Furor and t3 with Natural Shapeshifter and 2/2 ImpMotW.

This leaves you with a ton of points for things you should have.

Nature's Splendor - Extra ticks are extra DPS and with your Glyph of Starfire, you have more time to refresh Moonfire, giving you time for 1-2 more Wraths before you need to switch to Starfire for DoT refreshing.

Celestial Focus - This is free spell haste, and reduced pushback for AOE. DPS boost all around.

Balance of Power - Hit is always valuable.

Improved FF - More free spell hit. 1 can take it to give the hit to the rest of the boomkins. I don't know that I'd suggest all the boomkins taking it for the crit, unless you have nowhere else to spend points.

Insect Swarm - It's another DoT, all your boomkins should have it. Improve it and then Glyph it.

As for gear, Boomkins gear Hit {to cap} > Spell Power > Haste > Crit > Int > Spr. You're pretty much neglecting everything in favor of Int/Spr. If you're running out of mana, it's because you've gotten next to no crit, so you're not getting much in the way of mana restores in Moonkin form.

As far as spell rotations, don't use DoTs on low-HP trash. Lots of trash, use Hurricane or Starfall. Otherwise, Wrath. DoTs won't tick long enough on trash to be mana-efficient or worth the GCD. If you're not managing Eclipse procs somehow, either by toggles or random Wrath x3 -> SF x2-3, then you're just wasting even more points and losing a lot of DPS in the process.

I am considering to do a major overhaul with my 5xDruids in the near future. I'll give you a few points for consideration I have right now in mind:

Khatovar has very good points, which I will consider myself for the Spec overhaul. Also as a rule of thumb consider, that Boomkins with lvl 80 and proper heroic/T9 gear have no mana problems at all (it was an issue while leveling up), so avoid +spirit in favor of +spdmg, +crit, +haste. Of course if the dropped/quested +spirit gear is an upgrade, equip it. On your Resto you will want those +spirit and +mp5, I personally prefer +spirit.

I occasionaly took cloths here and there too, while leveling up, but by now I have mostly leather gear (with very few exceptions).

Glyphs: I love those two starfall glyphs, Glyph of Focus (+20%dmg & -50%radius) and Glyph of Starfall (cooldown down to 1 minute, woot!) and use it almost continuously on this 1min cooldown basis. That's a 3-5x "mobile AoE" starfall every minute, kthxbai.
I still have Innervate glyphed, which is great for leveling up, but not really necessary anymore at lvl80 (with exception for Resto druid).

Other than that, I alternate wrath and starfire for the eclipse procs. I hope I will implement an intelligent macro setup for 3xBalance eclipse procs, there are some great ideas out here in the forum threads...

Eclipse is a HUGE chuck of your DPS. This is why you're not breaking 1000 at 75.

If you're not going to manage Eclipse - roll another class that doesn't have procs. I know this sounds harsh - but its the truth. I dropped my Boomkin (80 w/ 4500 GS) for a 75 Warlock - and never looked back.

Boomkins are awesome DPS - but you HAVE to manage that stupid proc. At 80 - I'm talking the difference between 2000 DPS and 5000 DPS.

(I have done an enormous amount of work and testing on this subject - trust me on this one )

Thanks for all the tips etc.

I will probably try to make the Eclipse Proc work. I was thinking about having:

"2" - dps, wrath, wrath, wrath, insect swarm, wrath, wrath etc.
    "3" - DPS 1 starts casting Starfall
    "4" - DPS 2 starts casting Starfall
    "5" - DPS 3 starts casting Starfall

If all my dps proc on wrath I would have to go with hitting 3 keys - ohh guess that woulden't work. hmm.

Anyway, atm I have wrath wrath wrath, moonfire, starfall starfall, wrath, starfall or something like htis.

I will need to hit up a target dummy I guess.

And thanks for the help with the talentspoints, ill try to change a few things. And with the gear....

*Bluss* Guess I am the sucks. Ohh well you live and learn.

Id just like to add a point to back up Fur on how huge this proc is. Blizzard has already announced concern over this proc and an intent to change it because of how crucial missing this proc can be. Missing it once or twice during a movement fight or etc. is enough cause for blizzard to reconsider the proc itself.

I hope they will, it would definitely make things easier. But who said it should be easy to box?

I could just turn them all into melee dps.

I guess its back to the old training dummy to test test test.

    With three balance druids..

If you are going with buttons.
We would need 2x2x2.. 8 different buttons to mash.

I notice you have IS Boxer, in your signature.
An easier way to manage this will be with switches.

Create for each druid a few mapped keys.
The first will use an input of "1".
The first will output to wherever you put your IS/MF/Wrath wow macro.
The second will use an input of "1".
The second will output to wherever you put your IS/MF/Starfire wow macro.

Then create a toggle for each druid.
    Give it two steps.
Step 1 will activate the first mapped key and deactivate the second.
    Step 2 does the reverse.

    So you spam 1.
And have it output either IS/MF/Wrath or IS/MF/Starfire, depending on the toggle.

Now have a toggle for each druid.

Then you need an addon which announces an Eclipse proc for each.
Ideally, it does not announce "Eclipse", but rather Druid 1's Eclipse announces the toggle for Druid 1.

My druids are lvl 70 at the moment and geared with heirlooms and green quest gear.
I can push 1.2k DPs with them no problem.
I have no castsequence macros for them because I am too lazy to set one. Basically I hit with insect swarm, moonfire and then spam starfire.
At my current level and gear starfire does more damage than wrath and is more mana conservative. I ignore the eclipse procs completely by now.
