    Talking CPU configuration

    Dear friends,

Do we have somewhere Octopus tips how to configure client's for different cpu's?

Something like this, but on Eng:
    http://beyond-tec.blogspot.com/2008/...zuweisung.html - all on German

I know that to configure this I shold go octopus - status - ... - & change value.
    But how? ... I have " Intel Core i7-860" (2.80, 4x256kb+8mb, EM64T) Socket1156"
I play 5 box, on 1 pc (pc config here)
Main monitor = main char, second monitor = 4 toons.

    pls help

    & one more question:
    Performance:
    Maxfpsbk: 10 < - what is this?

    many many tnx

Regarding CPU, I presume you want to set the CPU affinity to different cores? If so, that needs to be set manually in the config.wtf as Octopus doesn't have an option for setting that.

MAXFPSBK = Max FPS while WoW is in the background. Means you can set that to 15 so your alts slow down when they're not the active window and will give you better FPS on your main.

Ughmahedhurtz, I remeber your nick.. you wrote instruction for Octopus.. for noobs like me.. many tnx for it ^)

After search in forum.. I found this topic.

    Final was:
Ok, so if i understand this correctly, set all 5 instances of WoW in keyclone to use cores 0,2,4 and 6?
And no instances to use 1,3,5 and 7?
So I have a question, do I need to change something in config.wtf to increase performance? (I have no problems to play 5clients +watch video +few programs like opera, skype & so on..) just for future...
Or by default WoW use 0,2,4,6?.. and is there any topic " config.wtf step by step for noobs" ?

    many tnx

edit: what is this options for? octopus - status - ... - "name & value"..

Regardless of the multiboxing software used, with an i7 you should be better off pairing a real core with a fake core. As far as Task Manager's list goes that means "CPU 0" with "CPU 1", "CPU 2" with "CPU 3" and so on. You just don't want anything set to fake cores only (e.g. pairing "CPU 1" and "CPU 3" would just be double crap). But, pairing a real one with its fake one should improve your performance.

That's the theory, in accordance with the available information on i7 hyperthreading anyway.

I have an i7 too and found that putting all on all cores (which is another way to say let the OS do what it wants/needs) works fine for me, just put 255 in the wtf once and be done

For future reference, I just tested this. It allows you to modify/add any variable value in the config.wtf. So you could, in fact, add a value

    processAffinityMask = 255

and it would edit your WTF and add that value. Note that you'll need to run octopus as Administrator if you want it to be able to access that file.

Disable maximizer for the clients (just set to to nothing) and it should keep the window buttons if you need them.
