Why an idiot? If he wanted the rifle, didn't have 4K and didn't want to wait for someone to maybe buy his hilt off the AH for what it sells for within a day or two, I can see this being a decent solution. Especially if the guy only plays a couple times a week and doesn't still want to be dealing with this next month.
The insanity of that situation would be if you saw him trying to make that trade, and failed to rush off to buy the rifle off the AH to trade for the hilt ...

Player A uses an alt to post up an item that doesn't normally sell for more than it would ever sell for.
Player A uses another alt to spam trade that they are trading something worth a lot for said pieces of junk.
Player B runs to the AH to sucker the valuable item off Player A, in turn buying Player A's junk item.
Player A logs off, collects the money from the mail and /lol's at the dude who just paid way too much for something no one wants.

I felt it was fishy and that's why I didnt go buy one. Trading a hilt for a 4k item is just RETARDED on my server as people are spamming chat as we speak that they will pay 10-11k for a hilt. i farmed hilt for 2 weeks straight, 0 drops and logged my rogue and first icc5 man it dropped....
now i need 3 more hilts for my melee... so its going to take me 6 weeks of grind to get then others....
im just going to make gold instead and buy them so much quicker.
