ATI seems like a better card for the same cash.
But, my system doesn't like the 4870X2.
The GTX275 runs wow fine on a single monitor (2560x1600).
But I'd like to go with a second 30" monitor.
4 Slaves on one, main on another.
Not sure how a my card will like that.

    5870 vs GF100.. ?
Could care less of Eyefiniti/3D Surround, or DX10.
    Looks like poetry.

Also, sounds like an issue with drivers (I've had some issues no freezing on slaves, for instance I can't use the 9.12 drivers while multiboxing or performance tanks across the entire system)

according to the new specs for the fermi cards (gtx 470-480) they can run 3 mon on a single card, and sli. it was a driver issue they resolved to better compete with eyefinity.

Three monitors would be the ideal solution with most of the UI/Interface on the middle screen. Samsung will be releasing new thin bezel monitors for ATI Eyefinity. With nVidia jumping on board, I hope monitor guys follow suit.

    Epic fail :/

i even doubt the release will make ati upgrade their cards or lower prices.. The nvidia card just cant really compete with the now old ati cards imo, nvidia certainly got slaughtered in this round

    Pretty disappointing.

I have one thing to say about Fermi.

    LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

//mainly from the fact that ATI/NVidia DX11 cards trade top spots in performance in various games, so they're about equal, yet Fermi cards cost MORE all around. (~100W GREATER THAN ATI'S 5800 series at load) produce MORE HEAT, and are LOUD at high temperatures.

Let's not forget you have to have SLI for nvidia's rendition of Surround gaming. And while I did hear you would be able to do it with SLI'd older cards (260, etc), it's still a lot more money to buy two cards than it is to buy one 5850.

    ATI sucks.

Never had one that didn't run 10X hotter than an Nvidia of similar model.

They're cheaper for a reason- and you get what you pay for!

jinkobi, ATI and Nvidia are still in competition as both are competetive. If either one sucked they would go bankrupt imo
