    You obviously haven't looked at reviews comparing GF100/5XXX's, have you?

    Current gen nvidia cards (gf100) consume on average 100W greater than the competition at load. Oh, and they run hotter. And idle hotter. Oh, and good luck not having a furnace with a GTX480 with dual monitors. (Something like idling at 90c)

    You've had bad luck with cards then. User experience will vary. I would like to see an example of what "similar" models you are referring to.
