Thread: Questing

  1. #1

    Default Questing

I have 5 teams at 60 now and have to undertake the questing portion of this endeavor. I am using ISBoxer and everything is great as far as movement and combat.

The only difficulty is in interacting with NPCs. I have to switch between windows to open dialog boxes and then on final toon I accept quests etc and Jamba ensures everyone mirrors the choice and even shares quest if possible.

My question is is there a way to setup a hotkey to allow the click on the main window to be transferred to all toons? I read the ISBoxer long post on repeaters etc but couldnt really figure out what I need to do to get it working.

I also have been unable to get my g15 keys to show up as suitable keys for selections in the key mapping setup any help with that would also be appreciated. thanks for all the help.

Set up Click to move and interact with target in your WoW settings.

    1. You should have some sort of /assist key to make your slaves target your main's target. I have a macro on [ that is simply /assist focus

    2. Enable Click to move. It is under Interface > Mouse > Click to move. I set click to move ONLY on my slaves.

    3. Assign a hotkey for Interact with Target. I use ] . You can set this under Keybindings > Targeting Functions {it is near the bottom of the Targeting Functions section}. Set this for slaves and master.

    4. Target an NPC with your main, tell your slaves to assist you. Hit your Interact Key. The slaves will now move to the Target NPC and everyone will open the dialogue window.

    Khatovar nailed it dead on.

Target the mob, with the lead toon.
Hit your hotkey for FTL Assist Me.
Now everyone has the mob/quest npc targeted.

Hit the hotkey for your Interact With Target keymap.
    Every toon gets IWT.
If they're close enough, this opens the npc.
If they're not close enough, with CTM (click to move) on/enabled, they'll move into range.
Sometimes you'll need a second IWT press, sometimes not.

Once everyone has the window open.
Jamba will mirror the options you pick.
And you can have the slaves copy your reward.
Or configure it, so everyone needs to make their own choice.
Depends on your team, really for that last part.

For the G15, you have two options.

You can use it, as you have prior to IS Boxer.
Do this by running the software as an administrator.
And continue to use the Profiler, as before.

Or alternatively, clear out every macro/sequence.
So you have a totally blank Profiler.
This includes toggle and repeat key press options.
You want brand new interface with nothing in it.
It is optional, if you want it to start automatically on boot up, or if you'd like to manually start it.

To have it work with IS Boxer, you need Inner Space to be running.
And to have the Profiler software running too (with a totally blank profile).
Then you end process (Control + Shift + Escape, Processes Tab, Select 'LGDCore.exe' and click End Process). Or you can get into this from Task Manager.
End the process for Profiler, while IS is running.

IS: Boxer will be able to use G-keys as hotkeys for mapped keys.
When you are in the window, where you press whatever to assign the hotkey.
Click the arrow to open the window.
Then click the arrow again, to scroll down and select the key you want to use.
Unfortunately, you cannot just press G1 or whatever.
You need to scroll down and set it.
Interestingly enough, you can use modifier keys with G-keys if you want.

I actually use my M1, M2, M3 and MR keys, as two step (toggle) mapped keys.
M1 is for Keyboard repeater on.
M2 is for Mouse repeater on.
    M3 is for Keymaps on.
MR is for Strobe follow, which I still use despite the problems...

I just choose M1 as the hotkey for a mapped key.
And one of the actions was a "Light Action", with "on" as the state on step 1 which enables the repeater.
And "off" as the "Light Action" for step 2, which disables the mapped key.

There's a more detailed walk through on how to do that, in my signature.
Most of the examples are how to modify the existing mapped keys, based on how other mapped keys work.
It's a bit of a read, but will get you started.
And you should be able to have IS Boxer do pretty much whatever you want.

Thanks I never thought to use interact with target as a means of NPC interaction always thought it was for melee control

One of the easiest ways is to just use jamba and have it set to auto accept quests from the main. Just get the quest and have your leader share it out and they all auto accept it. Works great with the exception of quests that give you an item to use. For the rest, a simple /assist /interact with target key setup like above. You should have that anyway as handing in quests is as easy as click, button button, click.

I have a question in the same line. Is there a quest list that would be suitable for multi boxers? For example, a list of kill, discovery, or other quests where the slaves don't have to interact with dead mobs?

    Not so sure on that.

Suvega has a post floating around for WotLK, which is boxer friendly.

For collections, I generally decide if the time is worth the reward.
The reward doesn't necessarily have to even be a reward.
If this collection is part of a chain, which is a lot of experience or multiple easy kills afterwards, it might be worthwhile.
Generally, I'll lead with one, until they're done and then switch to a new lead.
I'll always target the corpse with everyone, and interact initially -- to see if everyone can loot.

    Most collections (3 in 4) I skip.
But there are plenty I do too.
