I don't know the references but I'd like to go for "wow tourism" and silly achievements on my team (and xp and gear on some of the 60s maybe though they'd be aggro magnets and not very convenient maybe)

I would ask that you bring high level characters to these farming runs so that you don't aggro things from 2 miles away. If you die in Molten Core the run back to the instance is quite epic. There are no real gear upgrades you can get from these raids...Molten Core drops T1 which is probably outdone by any Outland quest green and Karazhan drops T4 which I remember replacing very early on in Northrend. You also get substantially less XP in a raid...especially with 80's in it.
