so I have been multiboxing for the last month or so and at this point I have pretty much the main team full t9 (or close to it) and so now I have begun working on some other toons.
Something I thought I would share with everyone new to gearing up alts is that I think the fastest way to get your extra toons (for me it is a mage and a hunter I am gearing up) geared is run the new instances, Forge of Souls and Pit of Saron. Both of these instances give badges but more importantly they also drop i219 gear.
I estimate that running my new toons through these dungeons has gotten them geared 3 - 4 times faster than just doing the older runs to get badge gear. My mage over the weekend has gotten his shoulders, chestpiece, staff, belt and gloves, all from boss and random trash drops, I estimate that if I was getting the same gear from badges I would be a least a week away from the same gear. Yes, they are not i232 gear but the gear is still much better than your blues and any epic from the old dungeons.
Also these dungeons drop staffs, swords and main hand weapons which cannot be gotten from badges.

As for difficulty, if you have the rest of your team close to full t9 and drop in a low geared toon they will still easily clear these instances on normal mode and once you get familiar with the runs you can even do the heroic version which drops the i232 gear.

So just a thought for anyone who may have some non team toons , drop them individually into your team and get some gear
