    Default Keymaps overlapping between groups

I'm having a issue since I created a second DPS keymap that uses IWT. What I end up with is my caster group having both the original DPS keymap enabled and the IWT one at the same time, and in fact some others are overlapping as well.

I have double checked and I clearly have the different keymaps exclusively assigned to their respective groups - no overlaps.

The only thing interesting about my config is I have a DNP/pause toggle keymap which is supposed to emulate keyclone's old functionality which I'm used to. It toggles all keymaps other than general/control, and itself obviously. I created a copy of this for my other group since they of course have to toggle different keymaps (if both groups used the same toggle then any time I used it, either group would end up with all keymaps on).

    1. Why would keymaps that are clearly not assigned to a group be enabled? I even went into the control "activie maps" key which I never use and got rid of it. Is there something in startup that enables keymaps separate from a hotkey?

    2. Is there a more elegant way of emulating DNP and Pause (like keyclone), especially with multiple groups? My other issue is both of my groups have specialized keymaps that are toggled based on gameplay - since the dnp/pause keymap simple toggles them all, it doesn't understand the state of any special keymaps that I may have enabled and those would get overwritten. I haven't found a way to determine in game what keymaps are enabled (except wiping or embarassing myself in pvp since everything is all screwed up

    1. Assigning sets the default state. They can be enabled at any time by your mapped key! In most cases this is absolutely desired (otherwise no matter what you wouldn't be able to turn on a Key Map that wasnt on by default), but as you've discovered it can also set you back in other cases. I plan on improving this particular situation in ISBoxer 35
    2. For now, you can make a different DNP/pause key per team. The easiest way of doing so currently is putting it in a non-toggleable key map (or at least one that doesnt get toggled by the key itself) that is specific to the team.

I'm not sure I fully understand this. Where do I see the default state, and considering this example:

Map A for team 1 only
Map B for team 2 only

    I load team 2

Where in the config is it defined that map A for team 1 got activated by default anyway?

I went ahead and set up two separate DNP/Pause thingers - one for each team. Again with them just being two steps - all off then all on, doesn't account for changes in keymaps I'm using during gameplay. Seems to me like I should just have one pause/dnp key that just turns it all off, and then separate re-enable keys depending on which maps I wanted to turn back on.

Any way to create a persistent message as long as my DNP/Pause is on, for example? Can't tell you how many times I left DNP on and toons went running all over the joint and stuck in auto-run and such

You see it by clicking either the Character Set or the Key Map in the top. If you click the Character Set, it lists Key Maps. If it's listed, then when you launch that set, the default state of the Key Map is enabled, for all of its characters. If you click the Key Map, it lists Character Sets. If a set is listed, same thing. (Or the same thing for individual Characters if you had wanted a Hotkey to only work from a specific Character). If it's not listed, the default state is off. That's all there is to it, if the Key Map is linked to the Character Set, it's going to be enabled by default. If it's not, then it's not enabled by default. Key Maps are always available to be enabled at any time, which is why your single toggle key does exactly what you told it to do -- enable the given Key Maps.

Right, the trouble here being that there is not currently a feature that prevents a Key Map from being enabled. I plan on adding something for that in ISBoxer 35 as this is a relatively common question.

ISBoxer 35 will introduce a new feature that will allow you to use clickable icons in-game to attach to Mapped Keys as desired. So as a very simple example, you could have it show a red button if your hotkeys are disabled, and a green button if they are enabled. Clicking it could do the same thing as pressing the hotkey if desired.

That will be great. It's getting a little complicated to juggle several keymap states along with pause and broadcast. I never quite know what is enabled and what isn't.

I'm messing around with mapped keys, where the target is an action target group, instead of all windows etc.
I've gone ahead and built IWT into my FTL DPS keys, but it only affects toons in the ATG - Melee.

I'm toying with the idea of two IWT mapped keys.

    So far I have...
One will be built into my DPS keys.
And can be enabled or disabled, via a mapped key.

But am thinking of a second, which...
Would be part of my interact with quest/flight path key - not built into the DPS keys.
So this could be left enabled for non-combat interaction.

    I've also gone with...

    Hotkey = Backspace
Target = All of Green and Blue teams.
Output = Backspace on round-robin (4-5 steps, one toon per step)

    Hotkey = Backspace
Target = All of Red and Black
Output = Backspace to every window.

If you have any of the Logitech keyboards.
You can assign a key light action on any of the light up keys.

It's not totally accurate, but pretty close.
    By this I mean..
Press the mapped key, and step 1 will turn the light on, amongst other things.
And step 2 will turn the light off.
But there's nothing which is saying, this is active therefore the light is on.
It is more, the last step I was on either turned the light on or off.
But that is a good warning or visual check of the state.
