Default Lvl 74 and it keeps getting better / Nifty use of addons to make BG's enjoyable

Grid - making BG's Enjoyable for Multiboxers

Edit* finally got a screenshot up to show it looks almost like normal party frames.

I just want to point out with the help of Mogs and my own little tweaking I've set up a great replacement to party frames that actually makes doing BG's ... actually anything more enjoyable.

First the dilemma, when you join a Battleground or similar your characters most likely will not be in the same group. Or it will be mixmatched / out of order.
The solution is Grid with additional Grid addons, you need Grid - GridCustomlayouts - GridManabar - Gridcaster (those may not be totally accurate but close enough!

With this you can set a custom layout to only show what you want to see I.E. your group. I really need to get a screenshot when the servers come up today but it's pretty close to looking like a party frame while performing exactly what I need.

My group is always the same layout no matter where I go, if I'm in a BG it looks like all of my characters are in my group and I see no one else. This helps a lot and saves the hassle of dealing with that portion - truth be told this was a huge reason why I stopped doing AV. Problem solved!

Team SWAT level 74 and it keeps getting better!

I've been keeping consistent with my DK / 4x Paladin team and enjoying the leveling up process. Granted slower than others on the forums, I can't wait to hit 80 though and push this composition to the limits. I'm excited to hear others and how they are doing. I think at this point any melee team can really shine it just takes someone to unfold the mystery.

I need to try this. I 10 box Av most the time now, its a pain to know who's getting hurt etc. sometimes one will die and I wont notice it for awhile. I have had them get looted and end up getting booted from AV for being inactive at the GY for too long.

off topic, I would rather 5box with another 5boxer than 10 box by myself. I can take out the boss with 4 guards up with my 10, BUT! if there are any horde in there to fear/harass me, its hard. But, sadly, my guildies don't do AV anymore 8( and AV is a great way to get honor for epic gems hehe

Thanks! I'll definatly check it out when I get a chance.

I have been dragging out my individual toons from Blizzard raid UI. I mainly use it to follow my group HP/Mana pools which is decent. Thankfully you only have to seperate them out once and they will always be where you placed them until you delete them.

The Grid + Grid Custom layouts I've been using for awhile and I must say it is amazing. With Innerspace mouse repeater regions it makes playing a remote healer even easier than before as well. I am like Ellay when it comes to BGs I feel that this setup is by far one of the best things for a multi-boxer, because now you don't really care if your chars are in the same group. It is nice when they are in the same group, but no longer crippling when they are not.

I love the fact that you can have an include only list, so that you don't have to see anyone other than your 5 or 10

I'm also using Grid + GridCustomLayouts + ISBoxer Repeater Regions.

I use two primary sorts for Grid.

    /Grid Config.
Layouts >> Custom Layouts >> New

    Alphabetical:
    [ order=NAME; ] ......without the square brackets.

    Specific Toons:
    [ nameList="ToonA,ToonB,ToonC,ToonD,ToonE" ] ......without the square brackets.

I use Specific Toons, when I want to just see my team.
And I use alphabetical, if I want to be able to "support" my side, via mouse click, from any of my toon's windows.
    EverQuest I: Bard / Enchanter / Druid / Wizard / 2x Magician.
    Diablo III: 4x Crusader & 4x Wizard.

Don't forget about openRDX. I have this same functionality implemented in openRDX using highly customizable custom filter sets and RDX allows you to freely modify/customize your grid/party frames/ bars /layout (etc...). you can also save screen layouts (i.e., desktops) and send them to your other accounts so that all of the desktops are identical, which makes mouse reapeat-clicking a breeze.

Alternative that's really easy for seeing your party in BGs - with no addons and little effort.

    Enter AV
Turn off any 3rd party raid frames (not required but it makes it nicer)
    Open the normal Raid window
Drag your individual guys out from the raid and set them up where you want.
It will remember the settings from BG to BG.

It's not perfect, but it easily lets me monitor/target all my guys without seeing all the scrubs!

Edit: just noticed that noidentity said the same thing! sorry for the repeat

I used Grid in the past as a healer and thought about implementing it for the reasons given above. The only question I have is will Grid show slaves that are not in the same raid? That is how I was interpretting the post if it does this I will have to give it a try. Dragging out the Blizzard raid frames is enough as long as everyone is in the same raid.

For use outside of raid say Party frames I really need party cast bars I wonder if someone has come up with cast bars yet.

That's great, thanks. I'll check this out. My guys are 70 and I'm enjoying my last few AVs at max level. I only made the team a few days ago and haven't set up most macros - I don't have freedom, hammer, repentence, or target healing setup yet. But I'm blown away by this team - if just charging in recklessly you still can take out way more than you have, sometimes up to 10 people, many of which die to all the aoe. Once I am fully taking advantage of healing, cooldowns, cleanses, aoe silence, hands, etc. I think this can be pushed soo much further.

And pve... man. I wasn't expecting much difference as any 4-5 man group can pull big packs to aoe, doe instances around same level or a little lower, and do elite group quests fairly easily. This group can pull half the damn zone and finish with full hp and mana, do instances 2-3 levels higher (like a normal 5 man group could), and kill the elites in seconds.

Oh nice, was just looking for just this, and i have to agree that this setup blows trough most stuff with ease, mine are just 65 and climbing, but they are awsome so far i really enjoy it =)
