What is in your opinion the "longevity" of a weapon like this one? Won't it for example just be outdated by the new 1.8k rating weapons? I say this because even if normally if you don't think you'll get that rating, you pay at the most 2k to someone to boost you in 2s.

    What do you guys think?

    Thank you
If you PvP, you probably have at least 2 more seasons before Cataclysm comes out, so you'll probably replace it sooner rather than later.

If you don't, the only gear that can top it will come from the new wings (opening today, I think), and Arthas, and we have'nt seen his drop table yet - and if there's no new patch between now and the next exp, then they're a good investment. Assuming Blizzard doesn't throw out a Mag's Terrace on us between now and Cata - they said no more major patches, but who knows?

I would say, if you don't seriously raid and don't pvp, the hilt weapon will probably take you to 83-84, like the end game gear did with Wrath - IF Cata is itemized like Wrath - weapons were few and far between in Wrath.

Wrong! Seasons only change with PvE content. Unless there is T11 PvE in the works.. this upcoming season will be the final season. They could do a half step up like they did with Sunwell, but they have said T10 is the last Tier. Bliz have said they "might" add a new boss or two ( new OS bosses more than likely ) So if those add T11ish gear.. we might get a new season.

Actually I ran ICC10 the other day and there are two swords in the first four bosses that are equivalent, if not better. Save your money and run ICC10. There will only be one or two other people in the raid that can use it, so it almost defaults to you.

The question is how long does it take for you to earn 10k gold? Have you maxed your professions on all toons yet? If you maxed on professions and got all mounts then spending 10k gold on a weapon is really not an issue.

As for ICC 10 man raid, it is obviously a better choice for weapon if you can join the raid. With my level of gear, I can't get in ICC 10 man raid. and I don't intend to further gear my self up in PVE after I beat POS to farm a 232 2h. Not to mention we need 5 weapons here.

So I think focus gear 1-2 toons to raid ICC 10 man, buy Hilt if you got the money to spare. Then you be all set. As for 251 weapons going to be outdated. It is certainly good enough to carry you to 1800 arena rating to get the next tier 264 weapon.

as for 2kg boost in 2s to 1800, all i have to say is wah !? in 5s (maybe), 2 v 2 ? How can I get to 1800 rating if I don't know how to play where I am half of the team. You get to 1800 because you have 1800 skills in 2s, I don't think anybody can just boost you there. (not trade wins)

On Anachronos in the EU, the hilts are going for between 13k and 19k... although I have seen someone barking in trade selling one for 10k

With the way everything is going, spending that sort of money isn't going to be justified unless the blade itself will last until Cataclysm and considering that there are still 3 more quarters in ICC to be released before Cataclysm comes out it just isn't worth it.

I really want the one hander for my rogue

I just made a bunch of Icebane and Glacial gear for my main team, for the Tyrannus fight. Now I need to gem and enchant it, and suddenly I actually have something I need to spend money on.

Once Tyrannus is on farm, I will have nothing to buy but a hilt, I guess. I'm probably not going to have a chance to raid before Cataclysm (Lightbringer loves its Gearscore, and heroics apparently don't cut it), so buying the thing for a DPS or three makes total sense.

I was lucky to get one on my first POS run when it came out and the drop rate was high (another guildie got one on the same run too).

Nowadays, I'm thinking I need to switch my useless 2nd combat spec to mutilate, drag my daggers outta the bank and whenever random heroic sends me to the new instances, insta-switch to mutilate and equip my daggers so people don't see that I already have Quel'delar. That way I can roll /need on it without ppl knowing I already have had it.

Problem is I only have one slow 232 dagger (the Forge of Souls one). I have the fast 232 dagger from random trash drop in the new instances too, but you generally don't want a fast dagger for mutilate. But being a 232 it might be better than my iLvl 200 blue slow dagger...I dunno.

Is combat/daggers still a useful spec? I can see that having a need for fast + slow daggers...

No, I'm not as evil as you think. I won't sell it, I'll put it in my gbank for another guildie to use (lucky 1st person to see it there gets it).

Actually, believe it or not you want Slow/Fast as mutilate. The only time you want Slow/Slow is if you are pvping and hope to wipe someone out in the first couple of stun sequences. So stick with mutilate, although it just got nerfed.

    edit: from EJ forums
PvE Mutilate, fast and flawed advice
Highest DPS dagger mainhand, have at least one fast dagger in either hand.
Fastest dagger - Deadly Poison, Other dagger - Instant Poison.

    Priority:
    * Ensure that there is a bleed (ie. Rupture, Deep Wounds, Rend) on the target.
    * Start up Hunger for Blood.
    * Start up Slice and Dice however you please, really.
    * Use vanish whenever possible for Overkill buff.

    1. Keep HFB up.
    2. Keep SnD up (mainly via Envenom).
    3. 4+ combo point Envenom.
    4. ToT when off cooldown, especially with 2pc T10.
