    Default Ellay... what about Warsong?

    Ellay,

Thanks so much for posting your EotS video. I've been hoping to see you playing in BGs. I started pvp this week when my shammies hit 48. I went to Warsong first, and my first match was fantastic. (my multibox shaman pvp blog entry)

But I went back to WSG in the evening, and everything went to crap. I'd lose one or two guys, and I'd have to leave them at the GY until I had time to retrieve them. I eventually decided to stay on D, which worked great for 3 Alliance rushes, but then they figured out ways of getting around me.

This lead to repeated losses, and alot of pissed off Horde players who were losing because of the "5 boxer who doesn't know how to box".

I went back last night, and again, I'm getting wiped out by twinked 49s and my teamates are pissed because I'm half the dang team.

I know there will be a learning curve, and I'm getting better (and improving macros) every round. But until then, I don't enjoy pissing other folks off. I thought about getting 5 buddies together, and playing with a group that can help me, and not make me feel terrible when we lose.

But I wanted to see if you play WSG at all. I had trouble in AB as well, but for different reasons. (again, see my pvp post)

AV looks fun, and I'm only 2 levels away from that now. But I was hoping to stay at 49 for a bit and learn to PvP here.

So what BGs do you enjoy?

I cant help you in the shaman-department but I'm beginning to get quite some BG-expiriences with my locks+priest.

Playing with friends will most definitivly help you out. I find that most times I lose a battle with pugs, its not usually about me not beeing enough effective, but all the pugs hanging around you doing nothing than wtf's and omg's

Anyway a few tricks I have that works for my group atleast:

    EotS:
Start by getting the felreaver, then move on to mage tower. Just run straight into the mage tower and do the fight in there. Aoe is the boxers greates strenghts, but also greates weaknesses. If you can take the fight in to a tight area, this would usually be a good thing for the boxer since you here would be at equal grounds.(forcing the oposite team to also take a lot of aoe dmg)

    WSG:
Mainly you should defend If one char dies, its fast to get him back on track since you're just by the grave yard.(however if the opposite team is also defending heavy, you might have to attack) Also do the fights in the tunnels if you can. as earlyer mentioned, tight spaces is usually good for boxers.

    AB:
This is the hardest one imo. What I usually had success with here is focusing between two(maybe three) bases by patrolling in between them. I'm usually standing in the crossroads of BS, Farm and LM for quick access to all those three.

Also remember to pick your fights in EotS and AB. Running a suicide mission is seldom a good idea. When I know there are 5 or more enemies at one place I usually dont bother unless a lot of others are attacking as well. However when they are 3 or 4 I'm fairly certain that I'm going to kill them, so I focus on defending/capping bases thats not defended by more than that amount of players.

WSG is my least favorite. The strat is for everyone to go on offense grab the flag and cut off their flag carrier coming back. This allows you to cap the flag without having to worry about respawns.

My best suggestion would be to completely skip the BG's until you hit 70 or just do AV's. Any of those lower level battlegrounds are full of twinks with gear that is way past what they should have. Giving them a ridiculously large advantage.

Hehe yeah I walked into WSG at 19 with my shammy 5-some and zomg what a beating. It was like 15 vs. 5 and non of my macro's worked because I was using target=party1target and my "main" was no longer main when I joined the raid.

The Horde gangbanged me, and the other 5 Ally got REALLY abusive.

I left with my tails between my legs and don't intend to go back without friends and, like Ellay suggested, at 70 so there's a better playing field.

That's why I use focus instead of party...target=focus, focus stays when zoning into the BG, I had little issue whoopin ass despite being in diff groups in the few WSGs I did; though they did tend to focus on me, wonder why ;) Since I was only 2boxing though I simply alttabbed when my main died and took full manual control of the 2nd(which is why I don't unbind anything like most suggest) and got a few more kills before he went down too, then released both to res together lol

I really appreciate the feedback from all of you.

I can't help but feel like... with more practice, and move modifications to my mods/macros/interface I could seriously improve in 40s pvp. I just feel bad for the 5 kids that end up losing because I'm still learning.

I'm still going to try, but I think I'll ask my guild mates for 5 others in the 40s that want to pvp with me.

When my 5 shaman were 19 I took them to warsong. What I found was that I could fairly easily take down anyone with our flag. I never tried to really camp the flag room but I was always in mid waiting for them to come and pretty much get owned. You will often find that it's more about how the others work with you to take advantage of the situation. If the other 5 can get the flag and you can effectively protect your own you should do well. It's really no different that when you go into a warsong and every one of the 10 people are doing their own thing. Its all about working together and making the most of what you have. I did happen to win that 1 warsong I played.

Mind you with all the twinks you may need to twink as well to be effective. If your entire team is also running circles around you and wasting time harassing you instead of playing then that's not your problem. I do think that AB and EoTS are better in the sense that you provide the support while others can defend. With 10 others if they defend (lol who does that in pugs..) you can just run from node to node when needed.

Flag returning is really where multiboxers shine in warsong IMO. I tried to play the middle a lot and escort the flag grabbers. Don't just sit around farming HK's, but work the flag carriers on either side and dont sit in the middle (you'll get graveyard zerged sooner or later). Warsong is my least favorite BG by a mile, but I do think a premade would make life easier in there for any multiboxer.

Something else I started doing for PUGS was pre-game I would tell everyone "Yes, I'm playing 5 guys at once. Please dont hang around me as you would be more useful elsewhere. I'll be doing XYZ and you guys should do ABC and I'll assist you where we cross paths in the middle. Yell out in /bg if you need me somewhere."

This works well in AB too, especially if you can get your own guys to come behind you to defend what you just took so you can move on to the next. Sometimes just saying crap out loud settles people down and makes it not such a circus to have a multiboxer in the BG with them.
I never saw a wild thing sorry for itself. A bird will fall frozen dead from a bough without ever having felt sorry for itself.

You need a team of 5 others WHO CAN PLAY WITH YOUR STRAT as well as be level 70 and geared to roll WSGs.

Also, a REALLY REALLY GOOD Druid for flag returns.

Play the middle and be ready to one shot flag bearers.

WSG was my best BG, honor wise, with the above methods. Going in "solo" was an exercise in futility.

If anything, 5 shamans MIGHT be better in WSG due to the wolf + flag carry mechanic that other classes lack.

Ghostwolf can be dispelled by: hunters, priests, shaman, mages (i believe spellsteal works, but I've never seen a mage in GW form), felpuppies... forgive me if I've forgotten any.
Ghostwolf is considered a beast, and can be CC'ed by: hunters, druids

It also has a cast time and does not remove CC like a druid shapeshift.

You can't earthbind/grounding/frost shock while in ghost wolf either.
