Default Triple boxing - DK or Pally tank

    Hello,

I´m having a lot of fun with my triple paladins team (prot/ret/holy), and i´m having a blast with my paladin tank, he´s just amazing.. i just don´t remember dieing with him (not even when i 3-manned RFK on lvl 26). Thing is, my purpose is to run heroics and (if my lag permits), to try to compete in arenas 3´s I do know DK is amazing due to death grip for pvp, and im tending to drop my prot pala at 55 and rolling a dk.

My doubt is: 1) PVE: will a frost dk be able to tank as good as the prot paladin?? I dont want to roll a dk and feel squishy. 2) PVP: Do you think it is possible to pvp with a triple pally team (without any method to grabbing your opponents) relying only on hand of freedom/every man for himself (3 humans)??

    thank you.

At lower gear levels, the Prot Paladin is a much better tank then any DK.
As you gear both of the toons up, they'll each be able to tank any content.
The DK will, with gearing, put out a lot more DPS then a Paladin tank.

If you have casters on the team, a DK (Unholy) can get you a 13% spell power boost.

From a boxing point of view, the Paladin is much easier to use. Make your 96969 macro, and spam it away mindlessly, for strong single and aoe tanking.
The DK because of rune cooldowns, and runic power, will require a much more active role; ie, cannot macro them nearly as easily.

You can pvp with 3x Paladins, but a DK + 2x Paladins will have a much easier time.

Some compositions will keep their distance against the Paladins, such as Mages or Hunters.
And they'll destroy you, with nothing you can do about it.

Once they're in melee, you should be able to take them out fairly easily.
And they won't have many options to get away.

The DK can put them into melee, via Death Grip.
If you're thinking of Arena, this will be essential.
If its odd world pvp or battlegrounds, either approach will work fine.

For pvp the DK adds a lot more than death grip. Assuming a frost/blood spec, in pvp you get:

    1. Death grip
    2. Chains of ice
    3. 20% melee haste to group
    4. 50% snare up all the time (frost fever)
    5. Aoe stun (hungering cold)
    6. Group heal (rune tap)
    7. +10% attack power to group

    and probably a lot more.
