Frost Mage

So, I want a macro that pops trinkets, icy veins and elemental when available - and otherwise just spams frostbolt - Is that even possible?

Or do I have to do a click macro and get the timing right?

Was hoping that this would do the trick:
/use 13
/use 14
/click BT4Button73
/castsequence Icy Veins,Summon Water Elemental

the click is just a /cast frostbolt

The above seemed to pop icy veins, but never get to the elemental, so tried:

/castrandom Icy Veins,Summon Water Elemental

which seems to be working, but not 100% :P

EDIT: Nope, gets stuck when one of the first spells are on CD....

And sorry to spam, but the above after further investigation turned out to do nothing once the elemental is on CD.... so now im stuck with just spamming FB.

The way I understand it, boxed frost mages are usually just frostbolt spam with another key to pop elemental when it is up. Can you now glyph for permanent elemental? Then it's just frostbolt lol.

My frost mage is only 15 so I have no real experience, this is just what a thorough search concluded.

Otherwise you are looking at

/castsequence [@] reset=whatever frostbolt,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, (whatever commas you need for frostbolt cooldown at your clicky speed)
/cast elemental
/cast icy veins
/use13
/use14

That will likely cause some dps loss on the frost bolts though. It also assumes IV is still an instant cast buff. If you want you could add a couple of commas BEFORE frostbolt that would make sure your IV , trinkets, and elemental were used ASAP.

Are you using any addons to handle macros, for the life of me I can't seem to get macros with multiple /cast to work

I tries a frost Mage 75 when 3.3 went live. The dps was pathetic

if you want dps for boxing, go arcane. Frost still sucks IMO

I would go frost on a mixed caster team.
You are gaining a lot more then from a higher dps spec.
The snare and freezes, virtually guarantee the mobs are dead before they reach your team.
It can be pretty nasty in battlegrounds as well.

On a team with a tank, it is no longer essential to drop mobs before they reach your team.
In which case, additional dps is almost always preferable.

My frost mage does comparable (80-90%) dps to my destruction warlock and boomkin druid, both in mixed quest blue/greens as new to 80th toons. The elemental shaman is doing more then the others at this stage of gearing.
I would suspect the gap will continue to widen, as they gain gear.
