    I believe when you mine now, you get the entire stack in one go.
    A very nice time saver, when you're mining.
    But impossible to share nodes now.

    I'm trying to level up multiple alchemists because the transmute gems seems to sell very well. I'm really to cheap to buy Frost Lotus off the AH for 50g+ each so I'm trying to farm them since I need a crap load. But damn, they nerf the drop rate, lol?

    Unless they changed it in 3.3, you should still be able to share mining nodes amongst players to gain 1 point each. Just make sure you don't have auto-loot enabled on the toons you don't want to gather the mats from. I did this on my lock team cause I wanted to take advantage of the multiple CDs also. I had mining on my main already, but his skill was higher than one of my slaves I was working on while questing. I noticed he gained one point, then she would also off the same node as long as he didn't collect anything. Last time I played them was about 2 or 3 months ago, so I'm not sure if they changed this or not.

    Auto Loot might have been the culprit.
    I was using auto loot on, by default.
    With Alt held, to suppress the auto loot.

    Maybe auto loot off, by default when mining.
    And a modifier key to enable it, would work.

    wonder how long it would take to become profitable with that... seems like about 30 days
    after the initial investment of leveling them

    The autoloot is the issue for hitting multiple nodes, beyond the actual setup for the hitting. If someone has the macro for toggling the autoloot variable that would be great to post. I thought I had a toggle for it at one point in my notes, I guess I don't.

    Mining is definitely not worth it on 5 characters, as alchemy and jc are better/simpler money makers
    (disclaimer: your server's crazy economy may negate what I am about to state, do some math based on your server's numbers)

    JEWELCRAFTING
    Icy prism (worth it because 15%of the time you get a dragons eye and 5% of the time a rare gem and also nets you blue gems for your transmutes - I get my stuff for icy prisms from mass prospecting ore, it may or may not be feasible based on your server's economy)
    Doing the daily each day (takes 10 minutes on 5 characters) nets you a dragon's eye which on my server is 100g plus 13g for the quest itself

    JC is approximately plus 500g per day then on 5 toons

    ALCHEMY
    Make an epic gem each day (be transmute specced) - proc rate of 20% (this is a lowball, as that 20% has another 20% chance at a double proc, then that has a 20% chance of a 3rd proc, etc etc) I actually like making cardinal rubies as they sell for 200g each cut into bold and runed on my server (which is actually Niley's server so I don't know why you don't like the reds bro)

    So you get 6 epic gems per day from five alchemists at no cost if you made your icy prism Lowball = 150g each gem (CUT THEM)

    So 900g from Alchemy

    MINING
    Make a titansteel bar each day. On my server this is....
    eternal fire = 25g
    earth = 8g
    shadow = 5g
    titanium bars = 70g
    So 108g for a bar that sells for 175g on my server

    Net profit = 67g X 5 = 335g (this may vary on your server, and it might be that titanium bars and their components are great money makers but I doubt it - if you farm the components yourself this obviously changes things, but then you are spending a lot of your time doing that, and it is no longer an 'easy' money making profession)

    Honestly, alchemy and JC are the way to go. Simple, easy, hit combine buttons and do a daily, and rake in well over 1k a day on 5 characters for 15 mins of work.

    I think we mostly agree here. The thing with JC, that I find, is when Used with BS, you can get some great bonuses. I have done so with 4 of my 5 shaman, and it was more then easy to crack 2k dps just hitting lvl 80. I Imagine the same could be said for about any other class. 2 extra Gem slots, plus the 3 JC only Gems = win.

    Now like you said, the time/cost to do it may not be worth it to everyone, But for me, I have seen a great potential then just the making money part.
