    Thumbs down Gold and Professions.

Would it be worth leveling up Tailoring, Jewelcrafting and Mining 5 times on 2 set of chars?

The benefits over 4 days would be

    20 dragon;s eye
    20 titansteel CD
    20 Icy Prisms CD
    5 Ebonweave
    Moonshroud
Spellweave (plus 5 more free spellweave due to specialization)

I;m just wondering if you think it would be worth it in the long run training up all these proffesions, if I bought straight off the AH to craft.

I'm pretty sure you can only have two out of those three professions on any one character.

    I think he meant tailoring/mining x5, jc/mining x5

i think people would advise for that level of tradecraft thinking about alchemy instead of tailoring.

Well I got a tailor / letherworker to high level and now plan on getting:

    2 x Alchmey
    2 x mining
    2 x tailor

I know those 3 are good, not sure about jc. I have like 100 eternal waters I bought on the cheap and when I get alchmey high enough I should make a nice profit.

These arent worth it, i have 5 tailors, 10 alchs, 5 jcs and every other profession.
Alchemy is the most profitable, as long as you steer away from making cardinal rubies, than you should have some jcs to cut the gems and sell them, easy money.

Ebonweave, spellweave and moonshroud are good sellers now due to patterns like Merlin's robe - but there's no guarantee that market will hold up over time, and honestly, the 4 day cooldown is ridiculous, not to mention the cost of the cloth itself. If you want to make a lot of money, there are better ways than tailoring cooldowns.

Icy Prisms are a waste of frozen orbs, IMHO. I think I made one.

JC is nice because it has a daily thats easy to do, and lets you buy the higher quality cuts and jewelry.

Alch is a money maker now, without needing stacks of Frozen Lotus. I epic gem a day, plus unlimited titanium transmutes, and flasks.

Mining is going to be tough on 5, ore nodes are in high demand, and it's hard enough on one. I would'nt want to level 5 miners, and you can't buy your way to 450.

Isn't it possible to get a skill point for every toon from a single node providing you only loot with the last one? It wouldn't be too difficult to skill up mining. But then again, you only get small stamina boost + titansteel cd from mining. There are better professions to choose from.

The time/money put into getting jewelcrafting up is NOT worth it.

The most money made for idle play is tailoring/alchemy. If you COULD somehow get enough mats for all the jewelcrafting stuff it would out-weigh tailoring eventually.

I think we mostly agree here. The thing with JC, that I find, is when Used with BS, you can get some great bonuses. I have done so with 4 of my 5 shaman, and it was more then easy to crack 2k dps just hitting lvl 80. I Imagine the same could be said for about any other class. 2 extra Gem slots, plus the 3 JC only Gems = win.

Now like you said, the time/cost to do it may not be worth it to everyone, But for me, I have seen a great potential then just the making money part.

My easiest money maker is Mine Saronite, Prospect it, take the blues and transmure into epic uncut gems and then sell. The mining step can be skipped if you just want to buy ore, but for me I had a stack of forest emeralds etc which I have been transmuting since 3.2 came out, makes me 150 + g every day for 2 minutes work.
Tailoring might be worth it to make the most inexpensive blue item you can make and then use an enchanter to DE into a shard. Bags are the only thing I normally can sell easily and the prices of bags have dropped a lot. The only thing about tailoring is that a lot of frostweave drops in dugeons and so it is a very passive money maker.
