Aweful Dps

Below is me fighting a Heroic target dummy. Notice my aweful Dps 3k Is that right for my gear/items Ive been reading on the forums here that people are pulling 5-6k so I feel like I HAVE to be doing something wrong. Any help would greatly be appreciated

Im using the Click Macro and it seems to work pretty well but no where even CLOSE to 5-6k like some shaman are reporting on here or hell id be happy with 4-5k Can you please help?

How many procs you do you get off your healing egg trinket? I only ever got procs upon dropping totems with the BRD version.

The damage meter is a bad way of looking at the damage since you have very lengthy dps to zero mana time and a very choppy dps cycle. I would back up a step, and look at the size of the normal / crits for your lightning bolts and lava blast rather than the damage meter. As well as the crit rate.

If your at 12k bursts and so forth, I would suspect your clicking the dps button at a goofy rate, Niley has some thoughts on over button mashing.

I'm actually impressed you are able to get 3k DPS with 2k Spell power and 42 hit rating against a boss level target. The people who do 5 to 6k dps have significantly better gear then the linked DPS shaman.

I believe my lava burst crit is around 5500-6000 dps I believe. That being said
do you guys believe that my dos is OK for my gear being why it is? Should I focus on geming for hit spellpower or haste? Basically what can i do to get the mist bang for my buck? Thanks everyone for the help!

That DPS is not bad for your gear level. You need 342 spell hit to always land spells against a ?? (level 83) boss.

How long have you been 80? Why not T8 helm and chest?

My advice:

Get into heroics and clear as much as you can everyday. Save up 60 badges on your shaman, go buy shoulders and then buy helms. Now you'll have 2pc T9. From here, just keep farming badges until your shaman are 4pc or 5pc T9. It really is the best stuff you can get your hands on for the time investment / how easy it is.

As for gems and enchants: Your using the right meta, and from there you want 2 blue, so SP/Stam, or SP/SPI. From there, if you don't care about hit rating, gem PURE spell power. If you are not raiding, you only need ~80 hit for heroics. Any ilvl 219 gear or better, gem with epic gems, you'll probably hang on to it for a bit. Also get icewalker enchants on your boots, cheap cost and it's 12 hit and 12 crit. 23 haste to cloak isn't overly expensive and you'll probably hang on to deathchill for a bit. If you REALLY want hit, go snag the ebon blade rep cloak, but I'd prob stick with deathchill. If you are not farming ToC or the 3 new 5 mans for weapons, go ahead and throw 63 SP on your titansteel guardian. Snag the Totem of Hex from Conquest badges when you can. 8 or 10 stats to chest is nice as well, but can wait until you get T9 if you don't want to spend the money.

I would probably swap www.wowhead.com/?item=Glyph of Flame Shock for www.wowhead.com/?item=Glyph of Totem of Wrath. When I swapped from T8 to T9, I only saw DPS increase, this also means you want to spec all shaman for ToW. I would also take out the 3 points in Eye of the Storm and put them in Improved Shields. I also didn't take booming echoes and took 5/5 Convection for the overall mana reduction in spells I was constantly casting, this is probably up in the air and your probably fine either way.

yah it just takes time. For whatever reason I had a fear of instances I hadn't boxed before. But I kinda got over that pretty easily once I had taken down (what I perceived as) harder instances.

??? I was under the impression that the heroic target dummy (the big one) was tuned to be heroic is that not accurate??

The ?? dummy is tuned to be a level 83 raid boss IE Bosses in 10 / 25 mans
