    Default IWT issue

    --newbie melee question here --

Okay. so when i IWT my toon sometimes "spin" around the targer or run away, i read this a long time ago when i was still using shamans, cant find the thread so im kinda wondering if there are any macros or anything that can keep this from happening?

    Thanks

Not much else for options that do much.

A few things I did to reduce the frequency of this:

Leave melee toons on follow while I pull. The shorter the distance they have to go, the less the chance of them getting stuck in run mode.

Don't spam IWT. I know people love to spam IWT so your slaves will stick to runners, but if the mob isn't moving that much, it almost always caused my toons to go berserk. I went from spamming IWT as often as I spammed my DPS button to using it only when I needed to. It reduced my run-aways in combat to almost nothing. If I do get one running, I just tap my down arrow and interact once.

If you use Jamba, set your melee toons to auto-follow after combat. With the first two changes, most of my remaining run-aways were from my toons deciding to go for a random jog to cool down after combat.

Yeah, I have IWT on a separate button that I use only once my tank is in position. I've still had a few instances of berserk slaves or cat druids running off ledges... sigh. If I catch them going berserk I hit my follow key and that usually rounds them up.

On an unrelated note, because of IWT, melee teams are so absurdly easy to control now that I hardly want to even include a single caster member in my teams anymore.

The only time I have trouble/runaways with IWT is if my main switches targets & I hit assist+IWT too fast. The slaves pick up my old target and go for it. This usually happens around quest-givers & merchants, as my slaves are casters. Outside of towns, I only IWT corpses while leveling (or to level melee skill on a nature-immune mob )

The spinning around the targets is actually a decent boost for you.

At least some of your toons are behind the target at all times.
Which means they're not subject to dodge, parry or block.

But for PvE play, you have the choice of spamming or just pressing when you need to move.
For PvP, you'll pretty much have to spam always.

As things are about to die, that's when the occasional run off can occur.
If possible, don't be spamming when something is about to be killed.
