Introduction
I'm Colin,

I have been playing WoW for about 3 and a half years now and use to be a multi-boxer on Illidan US Horde. I ran three mages and four shaman back in BC and loved every minuet of it. I'm a wee bit obsessed with being rich in game while being respected by fellow players. I plan on going back to Illidan because well...most of my friends continue to play there and to be honest without kate, charlie, lihan and crew i would never have gotten to the point i was at before i stopped playing before. I'm a Junior at the University of Rhode Island studying Business. I guess that kind of explains my obsession with in game wealth. I'm known for being a very nice person but there is also the inner asshole that seems to sneak out more often than not, i'm not sure that makes sense but it's just how you can best describe me.

I have experience playing every class besides a priest at high end raids and most of which i used in PVP.

The thing i like most about multi-boxing is the ability to help any of your friends that you'd like with pretty much anything. I'm enjoying the fact that once my teams are complete i can pretty much do whatever i would like to with anyone i'd like any time i'd like. Substituting people in and out of groups due to group composition and such is really versatile and i think it will help quite a few of my friends gear alts and who knows maybe i'll even make some new friends.

This "blog" will be kept on site and i hope it can eventually act as a guide for those new multi-boxers out there. I don't want any of this to be theory so i will refrain from posting numbers etc until things have been completed.

I will be streaming everything live 24 hours a day so that anyone who might be interested can just take a look at what i'm doing and enjoy the show. I'll also be on a ventrilo server willing to chat with anyone who'd like some help with pretty much anything.

At the moment i am in the process of selling other gaming related items to fund this experiment including my current laptop, my ps3, some custom built arcade joysticks and my mame cabinet project.

The Plan
My friend Kate offered to BOOST four groups of toons for me on Illidan. She's very fast at this and in the past was able to get me from 1-60 in approximately 12 hours. She also does not have a job currently so as soon as i can i shal be starting this part of the process. I won't have my new computer yet so i won't be able to stream this portion... not like anyone wants to see me sitting there anyway.

After team one is leveled they should have approximately 30,000 gold (confirmed number by Asonimie) to use to buff up the tank. Day one will be used to be ran through ToC normal by some friends as well as some heroics to get some better gear. Possibly farm 4 hilts for my shaman.

My Prot Paladin will be made Enchanting/Jewelcrafting as they are the two most profitable professions on the Illidan server. Also you sort of need an enchanter for all of the things you will need to DE while gearing up the shaman through heroics.

After the tank is geared enough and the shaman have some BOE gear themselves the grind for PVE + PVP + BOA gear comes. This should take approximately 8 days of every heroic to get done, or less if i wish to swap out my tank for a random tank or kate's tank (if she wants to join me). It mainly depends on how dedicated i am feeling at the time to running heroics.

After these characters are geared there should be approximately another 20-30,000 gold to spend which will be used on leveling professions for alt characters. Other than the Rogues, Ret Pallys, one Death Knight everyone will be made either JC/Alchemy or Tailoring/Alchemy... have yet to decide while the listed characters will be Engineering/Alchemy. So this leaves me with 20 characters who will have professions purely to make money. I may change out a few here or there... like one to Inscription.

Leveling these alts to level 65 is all that is necessary for the 450 professions. So i will get this out of the way since making money is important and there will be at least 1/2 of my groups I want at 80.

After that comes my rogues purely for pvp and then you'll get to see them in action

I'd like to note that my first 80 team should hit 80 1/2 way through january and allow for two weeks for gearing and leveling alts. Once i get back to school my rogues will start =D

I plan to aim to break 1 million gold before Cataclysm comes out. I don't really know why i want to accomplish this but it's something i think would be really cool.

I don't buy the 30k gold when you hit 80 bit. 1-60 you will be negative 180g or so because with RAF you will level faster than you can loot to buy your spells. 60-70 questing you will only end up with about 800-900g per toon by the time you hit 70. Subtract spells, the cost to 60, and flying. You will be about broke even. That leaves 6k gold to earn per toon in 10 levels of Northrend. Not counting -5k gold for Northrend flying

Sure you can make a dime or two with tradeskills but not that much unless that is all you do instead of level to 80. There are just not enough rocks to find, berries to pick, animals to skin, or shinys to disenchant unless you dedicate a lot of time to just that.

I could see earning 6k per toon, equating to 30k across the team.
But there are expenses too.

Not sure exactly what they are, since I usually send 500g or so to my lower toons, so they can just level up.
And then have the existing team buy their mounts and such.

I'll watch and hell you'll probably prove me an ass, but from what I gather you have don't have any characters as of right now? I don't see any guild/character links in your name, so your starting completely fresh? Honestly if you were such a big success already on this server, re-open those accounts for a foot hold.

I skip 70-80 talk because there is no need for it. The only thing to it is questing and taking the time to do that, i do not plan on instancing to 80.

Some of your points are good, but i'm lucky enough to have friends who will pay for my initial group's skills to 60, bags, normal + epic + normal flying. Flying is not necessary to level to 80 as every zone in the game besides Storm Peaks and Icecrown can be done without it. Even then you can use the "loaner" ones if you decide to use those areas to begin with. So that negates MOST of my costs. I do not plan on getting epic flying as it's going to be pointless since i will not be using gathering professions. Gold made in outland will be ~ 1k which leads to northrend's quests for ~ 5k or more depending on the amount of quests done and rewards chosen.

Warning, theory crafting based on sales of all items per day
Dedicating time to trade skills isn't necessary either. Especially with alchemy/JC. If i choose to use tailoring it will take approximately 1.5 hours every 4 days to go about making all the cloth (summoning or moving characters from locations with an overgeared character). If 1.5 hours is too much time every 4 days for an extra... 8,000 gold worth then... i dunno what is worth that amount of time. Time to create all gems would be the amount of time to login/out and create gems and ship to bank alt... So maybe 3 minuets per group of 5... so that is daily less than an hour for... ~ 3400 gold (most gems sell for 100-120 on illidan UN CUT) minus costs of mats (about 1k) is ~ 2400 profit that assumes no transmutation procs. The only time necessary to be dedicated is level the characters to 65... which really isn't all that much time since they are going to be leveled eventually anyway. Since most groups will not be groups of 5 you can just boost them on your main paladin (which i will have a ret offset for) but prot will more than be fine. It takes approximately 1 hour per level from 60-65 boosting. So that is 5 hours per group (and i will have leather BOA gear so anyone leather to plate levels faster)

Total time invested: Approximately 50 hours played to get all groups to 65. And then about an hour or so after all materials are bought to power level a profession. So yes that is a lot of time to put into it. But if you think about it in the long run... making an extra ~8,000 gold per week for 30 minuets of work per day (more if you have tailoring/jc) and upwards to ~15000 per week (assuming 2x tailoring per week or icy prisms to get mats for alchemy + dragons eyes/possible epic gems)
