I use ISBoxer and have been pretty satisfied. I run all six characters on a single machine, but I think ISBoxer can handle multiple machines as well. I use it simply to broadcast keystrokes to one or more other instances (some keystrokes only go to my healers, for example). I don’t do any automation by assembling multiple actions into a single keystroke – I think that kind of thing is frowned upon.
Setup was a fairly straightforward process, and I believe there are setup wizards now available that may make it even easier. The screen layout facility is really slick, in particular. Since EQ2 doesn’t have any mouse-positioned AOE spells (as opposed to WoW), I don’t have any need for mouse-pointer broadcasting. It took me several hours the first night to get things figured out. I watched the walk-through videos on their wiki site, and eventually it all made sense.
That looks like a pretty tasty group to me. I haven’t played a Paladin tank – but I do have an Illusionist / Troubador combo in my current team. You won’t run low on power very easily, and since your DPS will mostly come from casting you should do very well with that combo’s buffs. I believe Paladins and Shadowknights hold multi-target agro more easily than Guardians, which should come in very handy with your Warlock pumping out lots of AOE damage. The Paladin’s healing ability should be a nice complement to the Fury’s dps-centric healing, as well. It looks like a very solid group to me – lots of AOE damage, a trio of potential healers, run speed buffs, ports, group invis, stacking power regen, etc.
I’ve been playing EQ2 and WoW in roughly equal parts over the past 5+ years (since their release, basically). I came back to EQ2 earlier this year to 6-box for the first time after 5-boxing WoW for the prior year. I like both games, but don’t see myself getting tired of EQ2 any time soon.
Have fun and welcome back!
