Default After patch I get "Unable to validate game version"..

    Heya,

I am not sure if this is a general error or something to with my Link Shell..
I get some random messages about "Unable to validate game version" and then if I retry it works :/

But what is wrong with it? Even the normal WoW version doesn't work sometimes :/
    Any suggestions/ideas?

    Thanks!

If the game server cannot determine the version of the game you are running, then it will not allow you on, and will say it is "Unable to Validate Game Version."

Reverting the game to a previous version may also assist with the troubleshooting process. In order to revert the game to a previous version, please try the following steps:

    1. Open your World of Warcraft directory (This is commonly located at C:\Program files\World of Warcraft)
    2. Open the folder called "Data"
    3. Delete the Patch.MPQ file
    4. Run the repair.exe utility found in the World of Warcraft directory
    5. Click the button "Reset and Check Files"
    6. The repair utility will say, "World of Warcraft is seriously damaged and will need to be reverted to an earlier version. After it has been reverted you may need to patch up to continue playing."
    7. Once the repair utility has completed, you will need to reapply the patch to enter the game.

If that does not correct it, uninstall the game and reinstall it. In order to make sure you've got the original game data files, we will need you to fully reinstall the game before trying to log onto the game servers again. After fully uninstalling the game and removing the game directory from the hard drive, please reinstall the game and connect to the game server. It should download the latest patch automatically, and once it has applied successfully, you should be able to log into the game again without error.

If the problem persists, a virus may be altering the game data somehow.

I've had a similar error in the past, when I had patched without first breaking my symbolic links.
Unfortunately, both times I had this, the only solution that worked was a reinstall.

If you go that route, back up your WTF folder.
So you'll at least have all your settings and such.

If your addons are up to date, it wouldn't hurt to backup the Interface folder too.

It is the game files which are the problem.
One of the warcraft games has patched successfully, but the others have not.
And because the registry now thinks everything is up to date the others will not patch.
But the game cannot run the unpatched version.

If you have one folder which will run, you could try deleting the others.
At least the Data and Cache folders, and wow/launcher executables.
Then copying from the working folder.
If you don't have any folders that will run, the reinstall is probably your only option.

As mentioned in the previous post, the repair tool is a decent option to try first.
    Before a reinstall.
Also a post on the technical support forums can sometimes help.

As far as I know that is a pretty common issue with .3 and since it doesnt affect your gameplay at all I would simply ignore it - I get it almost every day and completely random - sometimes my main won't login at first because of this issue and somethings its toon no. 2 or whatever.

I guess this is going to be fixed sometime in the future since it's not really a problem - at least for me.

Same here, I get maybe one error in average each time I log x 5.

    Not really disturbing.
