Default Wotlk - ICC - The Forge of Souls (FoS) - Bronjahm

I watched the vids and everything and I just can't down him. He heals to pretty much full health the moment he gets an orb to him. I tried kiting the orbs but in the end I run my mana dry and its game over. He doesn't hit hard I just can't kill him below 75% at any time

Help please? Running 3 DPS and 1 healer shaman and pally

Edt nevermind I brute forced it like the video and managed it pretty easy

Tried him a half dozen times as Dk+4 Rets. He raped me. It wasn't even close. The amount of damage this guy puts out is ridiculous, especially with an all melee group.

Any other melee groups have any tips? I need to get past this guy for my Quel'Derars! ^_^

I think you need a healer here or it`s a no go. Besides that, only having melee on him must be a terrible bitch.

I was doing this instance yesterday with my 3 DKs and 2 randoms being rogue and paladin healer. I was tanking and doing DPS. it was quite easy and smooth run, until we got to this boss and were eaten realy fast. The thing is he cast some sort of reflective shield, so you have to stop dps. Otherwise you will kill yourself :-),He also does some other abilities like heavy nuke for 18k dmg on heroic, which can be reflected back or interupted. Another ability is well of souls, you just need to not stand in it.

    Hope this helps.

Had the same problem to start with but I had my team stacked on him...so I left the team in the middle and moved the tank away. Then just dps the add before it gets to him, kite the boss around if it's not down when it's getting close. When he gets to 40% just stack in the middle and drop a tremor. Still managed to one shot it even with him healing 3-4 times.

Not attacking while somone having the mirrored soul debuff on his is crucial. The latest deadlyboss mod e.g. gives you a nice flashy screen warning - that helps.

i have successful done on ptr and yesterday on alive server with 5-melee group, my 5 paladins, in heroic.
    my impressions.
this fight have 3 mini phases.
"mini" phases consist mainly in boss ability changes: you can continue attack him all the time.
-p1, typical "stance", same one you get when you engage him, consist in huge spell attack on tank+well of souls AE+ sort of drain life ability strongly related/chained with his AE ability(usually AE proc in place where is drained-target).
if you check with attention the ground, when he cast AE ability, a ground area (a perfetct circle) looks like pink colored: move out fast and place your grp in safe spot. my impression, this phase have a longer duration.
typically i wiped for drain-AE on prt, yesterday he gone down at 1st attempt, thx mainly normal latency on live server.
-p2 starts when he changes* face, he stops himself in a specific postion, dont cast anymore p1 spells and summon spirits. he dont cast the infamous drain+AE spells (yes the most dangerous thing in this fight for me), so in case you can heal hard (if you need to recover some health) or do high dps here .
-p3 he stops doing other abilities (p1 or p2), change to really different face(lol) from p1: its really important here stay out from face-front position. he cast a cone of luminous rays. in case you cant move out your party members get basically instant death( tank could survive, depends current health).

the main strategy for me is basically stay out from well of souls AE area and heal drained target and tank.
i taunt boss from drained-target too.
aoe in p2, and keep up dps on boss.
then find safe spot outside his frontal cone during p3, and dps.
remember mini phases rotation continue till he dies.
    hope could help a bit

Hes a tough fight for a DK + 4 ret team but doable, took me quite a few tries to finally get him down and it was very chaotic. I just move in a circle the entire fight to avoid the void zones and stop DPS during his damage redirection thing (forget the name).

Ick in PoS is a bit more insane but doable, and garfrost is pretty much a joke for this group

If all else fails, I believe you can actually run these instances in normal mode to complete the quests and then gain attunement to pit of saron and halls of reflection. Pit of Saron is an awesome place to farm for hilts (heroic trash only drops the hilts), tons of trash and no edges to fall off. Though, i'm pretty sure for the hilt quests you will need to complete them in heroic mode (not sure on this)

I'll see if I can get attuned by doing the non-heroic versions.

My issue is that the DK+4 Rets doesn't heal well while mobile. Setting up a macro to stop DPS for everyone while siphon goes off is going to be a f'ing pain in the ass. The fight is just too hectic. Really appreciate the tip about moving around in a circle. That'll probably work for me in time

I am also stuck on Devourer of Souls. I tried both planting my slaves and strafing them when he drops the bomb, as well as just keeping them on follow. Both worked ok. The biggest problem I have is the lazer beam on it's fricken head. I always lose a few [or all] toons to this and eventually just wipe. Part of it is I don't seem to recognize when it's coming. I have both DBM and BigWigs, so I do get the warning messages.

I run a mixed group, tank, healer, 3 ranged dps.

Anyone have any more tips on how to avoid the lazer beam?
