Also the random heroic feature will not let your group jinto the instance (says your team is invalid) if you dont have atleast 1 tank, 1 healer, and 1 dps and you can not select a role unless your class is capiable of performing it. For example, a hunter can only select damage dealer, dk tank and/or damage dealer while the hybrids can choose all three

So a 5x dk team for example would never be able to run the heroic daily for frost emblems (as a team anyway)

You can queue up for a random dungeon with 4 characters but it will find someone to fill the 5th spot before you can do it.

Also, badges do not drop from the normal mode new 5 man dungeons. You can get 2 frost emblems from each the first time through from a quest that works as an attunement to the next wing.

The ICC 5 mans do drop emblems of triumph on normal, I've cleared them several times today, every boss dropped emblems, though you may not have noticed it since emblems don't have to be looted anymore, they are instantly placed in your stash as soon as the boss dies.

Confirmed this last night, it made me think I was in Heroic! So yeah farm away.

whoa ... uh ... so, besides acheivements and the daily heroic (for frost emblems), there's no point in running heroics? Could you not get full T9 in less time by simply running ICC5 normal over and over?

I think if your some what geared some of the old wrath heroics will be faster per badge than say PoS (even on normal there still is a lot of trash). 2 badges from FoS, 3 from HoR... which you could possibly do both reasonably in about 40 minutes,and faster once servers stabalize and people start getting used to the pulls. So by comparison a lot of the old wrath heroics can be done by most in under 30 minutes. If your using the random heroic then you could see 7 badges for Gundrack or CoS or Nexus... which for 30minutes of blasting is hard to beat.

A lot of the shammy teams will be farming normal PoS for the caster shield, so I guess that would be the one I would keep running on normal. Once your all T9'd out and you have what ever drop you need from the instances... yeah most people will go back to doing the random heroic and then work on other things. Farming battered hilts would be high on my list (lots-o-alts). I have to check on trash respawn times tonight, PoS seems like the obvious choice for hilt farming to me.

Random LFG gives badges per boss + 2 at the end + 13g each character.

So for every random heroic you do... you are guaranteed 5 to 7 badges. Assuming you can do 2 OG heroics per hour with "ok" gear that means you get 10-14 badges per hour. If you can do 3 per hour that is 15-21 badges per hour. If you are REALLY good... you can get 20-28 badges per hour.

Considering t9 takes 190 badges that is...
15 hours (with OK gear) - 12 per hour Average
10 hours (with medium gear) - 18 per hour average
8 hours (with t8 or better gear) - 24 per hour average

After each run you get 65 gold total not including DE + selling greys + gold from drops. So you are looking at... minimum of 300 gold per heroic.

So it would have to be an instance where there are no "waves" for boss events.

The only nastiness I found is that you can't join as 5 shammys. It says the group is not viable for lack of tank. The workaround I did was queued with 4 shammys and 1 of my druids, then kicked the druid, and put a shaman back. He won't get the badge or gold, but you can do another random heroic, and kick a different shaman for a tank, and replace. So in order for me to farm the frost emblems on the dailies, I have to run 2 heroics.
