It depends on the motherboard (or lap top equivalent).

Some boards cannot handle larger chips.
And you will physically have only so many slots on the board.

Calling them is an option.
But if you have technical specs on the lap top, such as the actual (model number) motherboard inside, I'm sure you could google to look it up.
