I guess I'll get in on this thread now.

So I finished Stockades last night and ran all the way to SM (which sucks pretty hard for alliance). I ran library once to get the key (trivial) and then went to Cath real quick before bed. It did not go well. I cleared the first hall, and then ran the pattern from the first page and while AOEing at the end they got loose. I didn't retry to CC, and got worked. I hit ice block to buy myself more time to think and then they ran over to 1-shot my alts. BTW, I'm specced the same as the frost spec mentioned on the first page (http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=of0qcoMZZbAMIcfxsbqz). I'll try again tonight to see if I do any better.

    Suggestions welcome .

Your alts are too close. If they are far enough away, they won't get aggro when you iceblock. The max range for them to get XP is actually quite far, e.g. from the doorway at the end of the passage (start of SM cath), to the foot of the stairs leading up to the raised outdoor level (hope that makes sense).

Also if any of your alts are healers, the other option is to throw in a quick heal, although minimal at this level, it can still help, but they'll be guaranteed to aggro if you iceblock doing this ofc.

And on Ice Barrier, hit it 8 secs or so BEFORE you pull, this way the cooldown is up half way through the pull, so it stays up longer.

In SM you really shouldn't ice block, hopefully you have frost nova and can use that to escape, blink. I also have some points in magic absorption, so every time you resist the low level spells you get back quite a bit of mana. Try to use LOS as well to get as many mobs together as possible.

Also for Cath, I always do the last boss. Once you clear the front area of the Cath itself, once you engage the boss, the mobs from the left and right will come to defend him, and it saves you the time of rounding them up to aoe.

This really depends on your gear. There is no way my mage (see link) can pull the whole of cath.... my pally can, but that's a different matter.

Thanks for the tips. I've improved quite a bit and am no longer dying. I'm also pulling the last boss, killing the final adds, then killing the boss.

The main mistake that I was making (other than panicking) was that I would frost nova, then cone of cold, then try to aoe. The problem that this created was the the cone of cold would break half the mobs from the trap. Once I switched to blizzard and then cone of cold everything got infinitely easier. At this point I just need to grind out the levels in there so that I can move on to the next instance.

I've started boosting four of my five man team with my main (a level 70 warlock, demonology specced).

At least in Ragefire, its working very very well. My pulls are based on the maps on the first page (generally) and I pull with the felguard having him attack a mob and move on, finally going "passive" and following me back to the party. Once there I have the pet stay in place, back up and cast a single seed of corruption. A few seconds later, mobs are all dead. (I usually get myself into melee range as the dot effect of the seed can pull the mob off the mass.)

I'm curious to see how well the felguard will hold up in SM with this strategy. Even in Ragefire if I let the mobs beat on the felguard enough, he gets beat down. May switch to voidwalker.

I boosted my team with a 70 afflication lock in SM, I SoC'd everything and it worked really well. I was boosting a Pally/Mages/Priest so I got all the nice buffs from them for the Lock and Voidie, Blessing of Kings FTW For the bosses I just used the Voidie and DOTs no problems and after a few runs my team was really well geared. I stopped boosting at 42 and quested from then on. The team is now 62,62,62,62,61 and hitting Ramparts.

Can you give me a bit more on your tactics? How many seeds did you need to plant? My lock is pvp geared so only runs about 700 +spdam and is Demonology specced. Just trying to get a sense of things before my team hits 20. (mid teens now) Did you alternate your five also? I'm now thinking I may just level four of my team and use my lock as the fifth when they get higher.
