I like newegg.com - arrives quick and the prices are decent - not the lowest but its easier.

Gooses setup now looks almost exactly like mine looked before, only I had more happy hackings and mice, and a 6th (and 2 more on the wings) monitor. I redid my entire setup for the push to 70, but I speak from experience that Goose has a solid base to 5 box on. Had I not have expanded to 10 boxing, I could have made the push to 70 very well on that setup, plus maybe the X-keys pro that goose and I have over the desktop.

I also had a pull out. drop down tray for the main KB and mouse. More ergonomic.

As long as the monitor is VESA compliant (75 or 100mm) then it will fit the Ergotrons. You need to remove the stand on it though (4 screws). 99% of all monitors are VESA though.

Thanks for the VESA warning. I was not aware of that. Speaking of newegg, thats where I ordered my Big viewsonic you see in the picture. Also where I ordered the mice for this project. They arrived the next day! The monitor when I bought it two years ago came 2 days after I placed the order. Thats fast!

Well I couldn't help myself. I decided to go ahead and order the monitors and stands. Stand wise make sure you guys check ebay. Some great deals on Ergotron monitor mounts. Some going for as low as the $40 range.

I think you could get an L shaped or corner desk in there to be honest, without moving the side-cabinet, also, doing so would allow for your gear to be on/under/around 1 desk, and therefore not cluttering up the living room, that's a win with the wife ^^

Then I'd go for something like this setup, or a variation on that theme with ur new monitor stands

I really do like that desk layout. I never gave much thought on the corner desk, but that just might work, and it would make wifey happy. Win Win 4tw? Now if only I had money left in the budget to get one hehe.

Build one using the old desk as a start, get new legs from somewhere like Ikea (cheap) and a new top for the other side of the L, could probably do it for as little as $50 (guessing here, I live in the UK not US )

edit: or ebay a desk, noticed they go cheap on ebay as they're hard to ship, but try and find one to collect and ur sorted, that or a local paper or something with 2nd hand desks?

It's a work in progress, 7 hours setting up. This is what I have so far. Have everything here now, but the PC's. Be about 12 days until the PC's get here.

What do you guys think so far?

    Coming along nicely

Only thing is soon you'll start to want to replace those CRT :/ After a while the quality of an LCD spoils you :P

If someone needs a large desk with good depth I have to recommend the very simple $69.99 (used to be $50) Mikael from IKEA, http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/10111489

    Width: 55 1/8 "
    Depth: 29 1/2 "
    Height: 29 7/8 "
    Max. load: 66 lbs
Just don't stack CRTs and computer chassis on it, I did and it only lasted me three and a half years. With the very limited space Bradster had to go with, I have to say he did a very nice job!
