You misunderstand. I am not "playing WoW while my EVE characters skill up". I am playing both games all the time. I just recently found the wonders of multiboxing so LATELY my time has been occupied by WoW and "The Sisters".....but especially on weekends when the Euro/US timezones tend to merge better for big gangs I am on all the time. I'm a fleet commander for a very large alliance and I love it to death.
The whole fair/unfair/etc thing.....ya know, you gotta move past it. They pretty much fixed it (removed the unfairly distributed BPOs, locked the developer's "player" accounts, etc) and they created an entire division of "Internal Affairs" to look into that stuff.
If you're going to be so hung up on one incident a long time ago, it's probably best you don't play EVE -- it's a political world and if feelings are going to get hurt, you probably won't enjoy the game. =P
Look at me -- I'm the ultimate anti-BoB poster boy yet I got over the t20 BPO scandal like...months ago. I bitched and whined, and said "waah, unfair." Then I realized there wasn't much more to be done (CCP had already done a LOT to fix it) and moved on with my game. Now it seems to be the only reason people can find why EVE is not completely the best non-WoW MMO out there (and god-forbid, might actually be better than WoW in some regards).
To address your concerns about "Every person counts", the point is that every person counts means you have more than one person. CCP doesn't want one person to be a single pwnmobile, there is no point to it being an MMO then, just make it a "first person space sim". If all you wanted to do was train up to get a Titan, and take the years and years it would take to earn enough minerals/money to make one on your own, etc, then you're nuts. The fun of EVE is the corporations, alliances, political friends and enemies you make.
It really makes WoW seem like child's play.
Okay, just so you know, I'm not criticizing your English, but I've seen you do it several times. The word you want is "up", not "upp". There is no "upp".Originally Posted by Skuggomann

You know, EVE really doesn't appeal to younger crowds, it needs a lot of attention, and the ability to wheel and deal, or to politicize your gameplay.
I was playing the game when it happened and I stopped playing shortly after. I am not hung up on one incident but you can't seem to understand that. I don't like the principle of it. It offends my competitive nature and sense of fairness. The incident just highlighted the problem with it.Originally Posted by Squiggoth
And it wasn't just one incident. Several CCP employees were exposed, there were players unfairly banned for exposing CCP employees. There were lots of strange and inconsistent decisions made after node crashes and exploits.
And their "Internal Affairs" were by many considered to be a joke and just a front to pacify the masses and do some damage control to CCP's reputation.
Its all beside the point anyway.
My point is I just don't like the principle of developers playing high ranking roles in competitive end game. You need to see past one incident to the bigger picture.
How would you like to be in a WoW end game raiding guild that always seems to be one step behind another guild which always seem to show up for world bosses minutes before they spawn? I take it you also didn't have a problem with the guild in WoW that was banned for wall hacking when they were farming end bosses in instances without fighting anything else in the instance.
How would you like to be in an arena team that continually gets beat by another team with characters wearing gear they should not be able to?
I *EXPECT* the game company to be responsible and treat me fairly. I just don't think CCP is trustworthy. Hence, I won't ever play EVE competitively.
As I said above, it is not the 1 incident it is the principle. EVE beats WoW hands down in a lot of areas. The market is probably the biggest. The EVE manufacturing/marketing/economy really embaresses WoW's tradeskill/AH system.Look at me -- I'm the ultimate anti-BoB poster boy yet I got over the t20 BPO scandal like...months ago. Oh god, don't bring up the old tired don't play MMOs if you want to play alone argument. Especially not on multi-boxing forums. To address your concerns about "Every person counts", the point is that every person counts means you have more than one person. We're getting way off track here, but I'll address your points in order of importance:
I never once said CCP, Blizzard, or anyone doesn't want you to SOLO in their game. I said specifically they don't want any one person to be a SOLO PWNMOBILE (overpowered, able to insta-kill anything, etc). I do think both Blizz and CCP highly encourage solo play (how do you figure CCP lets you solo missions up to level 4 and even level 5 if you have a carrier)? To reiterate my point to begin with, they do NOT want a single person to have so much power in their game that others are helpless to try and do anything about it.
Multiboxing aside, it's just the way it works.
And I understand your principle of the whole t20 debacle but you mention "competitive nature" and "fairness" in the same sentence. Did you not get the lesson as a child that life is not fair? I'm not justfiying cheating, what they did was wrong. But you come across a bit....naive.
Anyway, I'm not here to convince you EVE is a game you should play. It obviously bothered you enough to leave, so, let's focus on the OP, please.
I've been multi-clienting EVE lately to see if I can synch mouse movements but the camera is my problem.

And I never said I wanted to be solo pwnmobile. Not sure why you brought it up.Originally Posted by Squiggoth

What you are saying is that you can't be competitive *and* play fair? Or only naive people can be competitive and play fair?
Didn't mean to derail your thread I just really didn't like some of implications in your early posts.Anyway, I'm not here to convince you EVE is a game you should play. It obviously bothered you enough to leave, so, let's focus on the OP, please.

Okay, you're not reading my posts. The reason I brought up a solo pwnmobile is because (this is the timeline of events):
1. I said CCP doesn't want you to be a solo pwnmobile, they want you to group to be very strong.
2. You said "oh don't give me that 'they don't want you to solo' crud"
3. I said "no, reread, I said solo PWNMOBILE, not simply solo"
That's why I brought it up.
Secondly, I'm saying that in REAL LIFE (let's back up and see the big picture) life is not always fair. Stuff happens; people get advantages. How YOU decide to deal with it (fight harder vs. walk away) is up to you. I'm not saying to be competitive you need an advantage; I'm saying people will have advantages from time to time, and your response in competition is to walk away from it. My response is to push through and show that in the end those advantages meant nothing.
Don't villify me; read my posts. Try to see things from my perspective as I have seen them from yours.
No, you don't see my point at all. You think you do but trust me, you don't have a clue. And the implication I resent is that you label me as some kind of quitter because I choose not to compete in a game where the administrators of the game is corrupt.Originally Posted by Squiggoth

Yeah right. I am done here.

I play EVE, its a great game even if you aren't what you might call an active PvPer like me. I have four accounts though only two are active at once most of the time. My main is working Cov-Ops cruisers (already have my BS and loads of combat stuff), my main miner is working on her Hulk (big mining ship) and my other two are working on lower combat skills and haulage.
I even have EVE open when playing WoW, its great can sit and chat to corp mates then make a fool of myself asking for a corp invite in IF.
Plus the fact that very long training skills can be done even while the account is suspended make it a superb game.
For multi-boxing... not really, its a multi tasking game more than anything.
@Skuggomann
Stuff plz...
OMG what I couldn't do with a billion Isk... hell I could keep all my accounts active at once for a while... Yes thats right folks good EVE players can fund their addiction with in game currency.![]()
