Default why is priest a no-no?

    hello!

I'm new to multiboxing, going to try a fivesome

    teehee, I did say fivesome! didn't I?

well, I was thinking to have my other characters all have either mail or plate armor (4 of them), and have a priest healer

priest because of AoE heals, makes easy multiboxing easy, right?

but I've read here that priest is not so good? why?

I understand that if I take this group into PvP it means the priest is the first to diee, always first to die

but for PvE, a warrior tank (plate), two shaman (mail) one hunter (mali) and one priest (cloth)

I would have a macro for the priest to cast timed heal on tank, cast normal / fast heals on tank, and cast AoE heals on entire party when needed.

    so, any thoughts? greatly appreciated.

    THANKS!

    - anni

There are no - no-no's. (does that sentence even make sense )

I've seen advise against a paladin due to lack of decent aoe heals, but I think any of the others is equally viable.

A priest is a very capable healer - and there are posts on here for how folks heal with their priests so make liberal use of the search function.

granted, and yes I've read a lot of threads in here

but I've heard that clothies shouldn't be mixed with a group of otherwise mail/plate wearers

lest the cloth wearer be utterly devoured and destroyed, in that order.

but I just think that Circle of Healing every 6 seconds is one click away and heals all of my characters (total of 5) is so uber not to pass it by

If you are talking pvp, then yes the clothy gets it first... but then the healer always gets focused first, so it doesnt really matter. However, PvE, I run a priest in a mixed group and I love it. Great healer!

yes all praise to the healers

however, is it worth it anymore to only level 70, cannot get past without Wrath

stay 70, get all epics on all slots on all 5 toons

is there anything to do after that?

seems to me all the content is going to 80's and 70's are left in the dark with level 70 dungeons slowly dying away.

I personally think priests are the hardest class in the game to kill once geared (with the exception of bubbled paladins (which my priest can dispel)). I use a priest on my team and he brings some major stuff to the table. Fort alone is worth having a priest in PvP to help buffer the team against huge hits and AoE. Mass dispel and fear only help and if you PvP gear at all priests can become rather ridiculous when you consider they have a multiple DPS bodygaurd squad with them.

Level 70 will have plenty of content if you do all of it. There are a few things to consider if you don't have Wrath

1.) You won't likely have the option to raid....ever. If your level cap is still 70 it will be hard to find groups and you won't be able to solo any raid content.

2.) PvP will not pop as often due to the level 70's being few (and you might be in a bracket with 70-79 which would suck for the 70's.

3.) with wrath talent trees out most 70 content will probably feel too easy.

If your team does not include a shaman, then a resto shaman is a very strong contender for top healer.
They have Earth Shield and Healing Stream Totem for some passive healing.
They have Lesser Healing Wave (fast) and Healing Wave (big) heals.
    And Riptide is instant.
Chain Heal, is one of the better AoE heals in the game, but has a casting time.
They're better if you anticipate, rather then react to damage.

Totems can be huge for a team, especially casters.
Bloodlust/Heroism is a very strong selling point.

I personally prefer discipline priests (with some holy) as my healer of choice.
They are mobile, put out more dps then any other healer spec, and effective at single/aoe heals.
Plus they have so many options to mitigate damage.

Druid healers are also mobile, they have massive survivability and some nice toys.
I don't like them as much as the priest, but there's certainly nothing wrong with druid healers as far as boxing goes.

Paladins can work, if you want to use one.
A shield and armor, makes for a very durable healer.

They're lacking on AoE heals and healing while moving.
So that's two major marks against using them as a boxer.

For PVE, just about anything works. Just figure out what utility you want in your group the most.

Better AoE heals? Priest, then Druid/shaman
    Better single-target heals? Druid/Pally/Priest/Shaman
Want curse removal ability but no disease? Druid
Want debuff dispels except for curses? Pally
    Want passive cure poison/disease? Shaman
Want anti-fear/sleep + passive AoE heals + passive AoE damage? Shaman
Want +DMG for caster DPS? Shaman
    Want in-combat rez? Druid
    Want wipe prevention? Shaman
Want usable healer threat reduction? Pally/Shaman
    etc.

Pick what you want and go with it. With the way gearing is in WotLK, any of them do well.
