Default Macro's for low level toons

    Heya,

I have been looking through the macro's compendiums and other posts and people are putting up their macro's for level 80 toons.

At the moment, I am levelling my first team and I have hit a sort of plateau in their development.

My team is made up of a paladin (retri), 2 mages (1 fire, 1 frost), 1 lock (affliction) and a priest (disc), all level 35. Eventually the priest is going to be my dedicated healer and his spells arent going be a problem in the long run as I will just end up using his HoTs and DoTs with the occasional major heal thrown in.

I am just using a couple of simple macro's on each of them but considering that I dont PvP, I am doing a lot of instances to assist them level up (with no boosting from my high level toons). I am using fireball and fire blast on the mages and shadow bolt and the dots on the lock.

What I would like to do is maximise their dps output for their level because I am starting to do the SM instances and will be looking to head into Uldaman and beyond soon.

Any help with rotations for the caster dps would be greatly appreciated.

What I did leveling up with my team was to use the same macros others swear by and just cut out/replace what spells I didn't have yet with those that I was currently using.

I recommend building a /click macro to run concurrent cast sequences. Then just install those spells you want in order and end the macro with /cast shadowbolt or /cast fireball. I don't have access to my account right now, but maybe late in the day when I get home I can post my lock macros (lvl 40). Do a sear for "/click macro concurrent cast sequences" Awesome thread.

Click macros is the way to go. It's modular allowing you to really easily build and adjust on the fly with very little thought or work.

Oh, my block (link in sig) has some of my warlock macros from the lvl 20/30 times. I'll be updtating it with my current click macros for my priest and warlock when I get home this evening.

If you don't understand /click macros and how to "tune" them to your specific play style, I would not use them, as you'll see a net DPS loss.

Many here just cut & paste macros that have been posted by others, with absolutely no understand of the "how and why" behind what the macros does, and the reasoning the original author used to design said macro(s).

I suggest you research and build your macros from scratch that fit your specific playstyle. Don't be a lemming like the majority here. Building a good click macro takes only a few minutes and a target dummy.

The posted click macros are a good starting point.
They give you the spells which are good to include.
And list the order (priority) for those spells.

Just because I've chosen to go: Immolate, Conflagrate, Chaos Bolt and Incinerate with my warlock does not necessarily mean that's the best spells to go with. Maybe another spell would be better, or a different order like reversing the priority of Conflag and Chaos Bolt.

But the macros of others gives you a starting point.

You'll want to understand how the click works.
And build macros based on your spam speed.
To ensure its as powerful as can be.
Even then, you'll want to tweak them on a target dummy.

Offtopic but... I just recently came back to wow. I've found the high level target dummies. Are there any lower level ones that could be useful to midlevel toons.

You can try dueling with one of your toons to get a target dummy effect. Just have one of your toons duel another one. The recount addon should show you dps. Also watch for cool downs and hang ups with your /click rotations.

You basically want to pull the spells out of the spell book.
Place them somewhere, where they're visible but won't be clicked on.

    Then watch your sequence.
You want each to fire off, as the cooldown allows.
Or as the dot runs out.

Add commas to increase the delay.
Or remove commas to fire an ability off sooner.

I think the lowest actual target dummies are 60th.
But the alts will work well, just pick a safe place.
