At a quick figure, there are 24300000 possible teams without eliminating cases which are functionally identical (for example Holy Priest, Frost Mage, Ret Paladin, Ret Paladin, Destro Warlock <--> Frost Mage, Holy Priest, Ret Paladin, Ret Paladin, Destro Warlock).

if it's your first team, i would suggest 5xelem shaman, or 1 paly tank+4 shaman, as it will be MUCH easier to set up compared to 5 different classes.

    What's your goal? pvp? pve?
not sure why you'd want to level 7 toons.

one of the comp i like is Prot Tank / Holy Priest / Mage / Elem Shaman / Balance Druid.
I don't really like the (permanent) pet classes
That comp gives you all the main buffs, lots of off healers, an off tank if needed, brez, pop, lots of cc, a stealth class if needed to trigger whatever,
it also give you a reasonably good distribution of gear, as only the priest and mage fight for cloth, and in the end one will get the healy stuff, and the other the dps stuff (although they are often interchangeable i guess).

With that attitude, you're going to fail misserbly and give up.

But hey - why listen to people who have been doing this for years? You're the new guy, you know it all right?

    Good luck wasting your money.

    For a mixed team..

    Protection Paladin
    Balance Druid or Destruction Warlock
    Elemental Shaman
    Elemental Shaman
    Discipline Priest

The druid brings another buff which is nice and battle rez, but requires you to manage eclipse procs. The warlock gets you the 13% spell power buff, and puts out as much damage as the druid with the procs managed or the shammies. You could go another Elemental Shaman in the place of the Disc Priest, for more dps, and 3x heals as you need them.

You might want a team for arena, the mixed team won't do so well there. At least, none have to date.

Whatever you do, go with RAF, which will greatly improve your 1-60 experience. Level up a bunch of toons during RAF.

The option of a healer and a tank per account really lets you build as many teams as you like.

A lot of people are having a blast with 4x or 5x melee.

4x Shaman + 1x Paladin is the typical team, you could drop the pally and have someone else play a dedicated healer for a caster pvp team.

5x one class has a lot of combinations which can be fun too.

As far as PvE or Battlegrounds go, just about any combination will work. For heroics, you will eventually need a tank and a healing option (which can be your dps in many cases). Once you outgear the instances, rogues or warlock pets have tanked, and pallies have run stuff with Judgement and Seal of Light for their heals.

I would RAF, do a bunch of combos to 60, and then pick a combo which sounds fun for 60-80 play. Maybe do 2-3 teams, in priority, so each has rested experience the whole way up. Flying mounts at 60th, make Outland a ton easier, but you'll need a team at 80th to buy cold flying (to fly in Northrend). You can also mix up the leveling with a) quests; b) pvp; and c) instances.
    EverQuest I: Bard / Enchanter / Druid / Wizard / 2x Magician.
    Diablo III: 4x Crusader & 4x Wizard.

It takes a lot of effort to gear up even one team, so I'd suggest making one team purely for PvP and one team purely for PvE. Go prot pala 4 shaman, and do both with it if you like. Besides, if you get geared up, you can start using badges for BoA gear, and make lvlin team 2 much faster.

I run a 5-class 5-box and am levelling up 3 more classes as well (leaving out rogue and warrior).

Whatever you end up picking, I'd reccomend that two of them be a mage and a warlock. Just for pure NON-combat reasons.

Warlock for the summoning stone, and mage for the portals.

Every time you need to do something on just one of your toons, drop a summon stone and summon them back once they're done. Cuts your travel time in half.

Mage generates food for the whole team and you never ever have to worry about getting back to northrend/outland etc. You can set your whole group's hearthstones to convenient inns along the way for questing purposes.

While I've tried other comps for fun, I always miss having a mage or warlock along whenever I don't have one.
