Yeah I've been digging around for information that it may be boxer friendly, but I have yet to come across anything.

Even if there isn't a /follow, there may be other ways to handle that.

I don't really care much about cont as long as the game is actually about what it says it's about. My problem is more that I've yet to see a really entertaining Star Trek game since Super Star Trek. But who knows, we'll see, every game is a new chance to impress, or to spend lots of money producing a well-polished pile of shit that won't make money past the initial hype wave or ever break even.

Nope, after you wipe out the server, you have to duel it out among your own characters until you're down to 5.

From what I understand, the ground combat seems that it would be completely boxable (Assuming the existence of a follow command). The space combat however, looks like it could potentially be much more difficult. Firing arcs and the directional shielding that the ships have might be difficult to manage. I anticipate that the enemy ships are going to be a lot more mobile during combat than WoW or other MMOs. Selecting ships that have a lot of forward facing weapons and utilizing focus fire might be able to overcome a lot of this, but it might be difficult to properly protect your fleet. Has anyone here had the supreme fortune of getting into the closed beta and able to report on how important rotating your ships during combat is?

From the little I've seen there's no follow command in space and it's mouse intensive.

It'd be doable but I'm guessing very difficult for two ships and exponentially worse for each extra ship. Three might be possible for someone very skilled but I doubt any more would be genuinely possible. You'd also need to hardware box it as Cryptic use anti-botting code in their products that buggers up multiple instances on one PC.

I don't think you'd gain much by multiboxing either, everything is instanced and the instance difficulty ramps up with more people in the team.

I'm going to start with single-box anyways. Will try dual-boxing when I get bored.

Can't wait for open beta. *sigh*

One wonders at what point it will be practical to multibox inside virtual machines. They're getting very lightweight and can generally handle some degree of 3D graphics now. Extra overhead...oh no, slap in another GB of memory...eh, maybe.

Strikes me as a solid idea. You get more time out of the game, you get to learn its mechanics in a more simplified case.
