EQ2 "1.5 Boxing"

Hi there my wife and I play a Necro and SK duo on EQ2 and I would like to run a third account we BOTH can control for a healer/buffer.

Ideally I would like to do it all in software and the ultimate best would be to send a tell to the character that it can react to. (I didn't see any support for triggers in EQ2 in-game macros?).

This way we could each throw up a set of healme or buffme macro buttons on our main's hotbar to send a tell to that character. I want the most hands-off possible for the third character and ideally as much done from the EQ2 client as possible to avoid overhead.

I prefer an immersive experience better than micromanaging a bunch of alts so I would like to only have to look at the EQ2 client if possible, although I used to run 10 paladins, a warrior, mage, thief and cleric in a text mud (go zMUD client).

I'm running two EQ2 clients on one PC and one on the other.

Does anyone have suggestions on the best way to proceeed?

Well, what you would do is setup keyclone and then more or less ignore the toon when your not needing to do something... like... zone into a dungeon, or accept a quest.

Instead of a "heal me" macro, you can make a button that when pressed targets you, and another that actually heals you.

If thats ALL you want it to do, thats easy.

If you wanted it to do more... would require more.

So keyclone sends commands to 2 clients running on one box but I want to do the inverse, use 2 boxes to command 1 client. Hence the .5 My sense of keyclone is that it is application layer and I may need something that is layer three don't you think?

I wouldn't consider it botting unless what you and 99% of the others here do is also botting with your use of heavy macroing. Whether those macros are in the EQ2 client or not. I push a button, get a result, not botting.

At one time, there was some software that would allow you to send tells to your character in EQ and get buffs, heals, etc. It was considered botting because you aren't controlling the character at all.

i dont know about software but you could each have xkeys [programable keys] and have them connected to the third pc, have one button for healing your character and buffing for your character and have the button on her key board do the same for her using /cast name commands in macros

You are trying to control a character by in-game stimuli there for it is botting. The fact that the stimuli was the result of an action you took to cause the tell does not matter.

What I and 99% of the others here do is manage the keyboard and mouse connections to our clients so that we can play multiple characters. We don't automate characters so that they will respond to the actions of other characters. This is why what we do is not botting, we are playing all of the characters all of the time.

Ultimately what you have outline allows two different people to control the actions of a character, this violates the Everquest2 EULA.

Your clearly headed in a bad direction, I would urge you to rethink.

by 3 licenses of keyclone. put one on each pc, connect the 3 rd pc to the 2 main ones as a remote client in keyclone. Configure both main PCs accordingly. Unless EQ says you cant use a keyboard multiplexor i see nothing wrong with my suggestion. assuming keyclone will recgonize 2 hosts like that.
